I have stayed at the chateau more than half a dozen times and the experience is consistently world class in every way.

Exceptional establishment, exceptional location, exceptional restaurant. Started with guided tour which set wonderful tone for stay. Beautiful, pristine room. Quiet, private, staff all-but-invisible, except when needed. Genuinely created impression that we were the only guests, even though near-full. Restaurant made us special dish so we didn't have to repeatedly order same dishes, and somelier was not only knowledgeable, but really listened. First-rate attention to detail, eg. best artisan yoghurt we've ever tasted in truly sumptuous (and inclusive - bravo) breakfast.
Anything less than perfect? Maybe the rather harsh linen bedding, over-priced wi-fi and shortish 'standard' menu (easily overcome by saying so) ... but easily forgiven

We stayed for 2 nights on our way down to Avignon.

Traditional service - bell boy, car parking service, waiters in tails offering apperitives from silver trays.

We were upgraded to a suite, which was bigger than some houses I have lived in. Bedroom with 4 poster bed, living room and bathroom with huge marble bath. Lovely place - more like staying in a historic building than a 5 star hotel - a little dusty and dark, but huge amounts of character.

The view from the terrace is stunning.

We had one blow-out meal in the Michelin starred restaurant. An amazing experience - in a French kind of way with rich sauces galore. Eye-wateringly expensive, but we had factored that in...

The chateau is very isolated, do would only recommend it for a short stay. We had 2 nights, which was more than enough. There is one cafe/bar in the village, but worryingly the cook had been rushed to hospital. We had a perfectly acceptable steak frites, in contrast to the haute-cuisine of the chateau.

Negatives - charging extra for breakfast. Just wrap the charge into the room rate and then it does not feel like you are being fleeced.

Biggest bug-bear was being charged 15 euros per day for wi-fi...I worked out that I could pay for international roaming through Vodafone for the whole holiday for a comparable price - £2 per day...

Would be happy to return for a one night stay en-route to the south...

We stayed at the chateau as part of our honeymoon and it was a real highlight (among a holiday of amazing hotels!). It is in wonderfully restored condition with beautiful antiques throughout. We felt like we were in a museum and kept expecting someone to appear asking us to leave as it was closing time!

The restaurant is beautiful..you must have the degustation dinner with the cheese course. We took photos of the trolley piled high with cheese and people are constantly amazed..and they didn't get to eat them!

There's really not much to do around there but relax. We wandered around Bagnol (which took about 5 minutes) then went for a drive to some nearby towns for lunch, but the scenery is the real draw card in the area.

The chateau is so amazing you'll be remembering its beauty for years.
