Just returned from a two night stay at La Chancellerie during 10 day road trip through France and can highly recommend it for either couples of families with children. The hosts were very accommodating to our party of 5, including two teenage children.
Located in Huismes, just outside of Chinon, it's a little difficult to find...so plan your arrival during daylight hours. Rooms very up to date, heavy beamed ceilings, pleasant furnishings, and excellent breakfast provided in main house. Nice pool as well which was welcomed after a day of chateaux viewing. Location may be a little far from main "Chateaux country" but managed a full day visit to both Chenonceaux and Azay le Rideau with time to spare. Rates quite reasonable for the quality of service and accommodations.

Stayed at La Chancellerie for 2 nights in Sept 07. We were 3 people and we stayed in "La Maison", which is a two bedroom apartment with a kitchen and living room. The apartment was not as quaint as the other bedrooms but it was very spacious which was a welcome break from much smaller living quarters we had elsewhere in France. The apartment had a washing machine which was very handy as we were in the middle of our trip. It is well located (a few minutes drive to the town of Chinon), the owners are friendly and it is very reasonably priced. I recommend it without hesitation.

We are just back from 2 weeks vacations in France. Being a family of four (children 8 & 11), I found it sometime hard to find a hotel or a B&B. We just had a “coup de coeur” for La Chancellerie in Huismes.

If you are looking for a wonderful place where to stay in the Loire Valley, close to the castles (Ussé, Azay Le Rideau, Villandry, Langeais) and close to the village of Chinon...you must go to La Chancellerie.

We stayed there for two nights in the suite; it is located in the oldest part of this manor house and is so charming with its chimney, antique furniture and wooden beams. They even have a garden and a gorgeous pool! It is just perfect for a family of 4. I felt like a princess and could not believe I was sleeping in such a wonderful place...all the family will remember forever La Chancellerie. We found it hard to leave after just two days; we would have stayed much longer!

Prices are really resonable...enjoy!
