“A home from home”

We ate here a while ago and liked the atmosphere so decided we would stay next time we were in the area. We stayed for Christmas and New Year, and we have completely fallen in love with the place.

It is a superb base for walking, you can just park up and forget about the car if you want to. The accommodation is quite traditional and the room we had was huge, with a balcony and seating outside.

What makes this place outstanding is the staff. Tim and Sue looked after us from the moment we arrived, and all the staff go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The food is fantastic, loads of choice and the portions are really generous (if you want to eat you really need to book). Breakfast was great, everything cooked to order.

The bar has big leather settees in front of the fire, a great place to relax after a hard days walking.

We loved it so much we have already booked for Easter and Christmas, and we cannot wait to return

“An enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We stayed here for a quick get away from work and was really pleased with our choice. We were late arriving and they were just about to close thinking we were not coming but even with us arriving late it was not a problem and even opened the bar for us to have a drink or too. The owners were welcoming and hospitable.

There bedrooms were traditional in design but very clean and the beds comfortable. The breakfast the following morning was excellent. The quality of the produce was superb and cooked just right.

Well done Pooley Bridge - if we need a quick break again we will certainly head on over.

“EXCELLENT food”

We stayed in the village for a week end with my girlfriend in December and were absolutely amazed by the quality of all the food served at the Pooley Bridge Inn. I am French and therefore very fussy with my food so I would highly recommend this place for anyone visiting the area. The staff was very friendly, the log fire a bonus, great beers but the food is why we didnt bother to try other places and kept going back here. It was EXCELLENT, a MUST try if you are passing...

Well we headed back to Scotland after the xmas sales and decided to detour to the lakes, I had recently thought of staying in pooley bridge, well here i was starving!!!

In honestly we were lucky to get a table.. a short 1 hour was allotted to eat, which intially put me off...briefly!!

the food.... I can most definately recommend the Baked Brie , Gammon and Cumberland sausage...

went away suitably full .......... it was wonderful. Only sadness was that i couldnt dive into the Cumbrian way bitter as i had to drive ............... thanks to all at the Polley Bridge inn ...

I will be back...
