“7 Day stay disaster!”

New owners from Australia are very rude and have no experience for running such a resort. They had all their family there who took up the pool all the time and were making heaps of noise. The buffet breakfast that was included was very poor and the fruit was practically off! Reception is never open only from about 8am until 11am, heaps of stuff ups and just about missed our plane because the owners could not be bothered finding out where our shuttle is at 11pm at night! No customer service at all - very very poor, the accommodation was okay but overpriced for what it is as heaps of bugs and lizards running around the villas. Shower was absolutely revolting. WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN EVEN IF I WAS PAID TO.......HAVE ADVISED FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES OF THE SAME!

Room Tip: Don't stay here you will be very disappointed

Thank you for your review, this is a wonderful opportunity for Lagoon Breeze Villas to show how valued our guest’s comments are and the opportunity to respond.
A small correction to your review, Garth and I are New Zealanders not Australians as you claimed, who until purchasing Lagoon Breeze Villas 4 months ago, managed a very successful resort on Rarotonga for 5 years.
We are a little confused as to why you found us (owners) rude. Apart from at 11pm personally ensuring you were picked up in time for your departure flight (which was a result of an error on the shuttle companies part and for which was explained at the time) neither of us (owners) had any dealings with you as our Office Manager Vikki is the first point of contact and looks after all our guests needs.
With regard to having our family on the resort, this is absolutely correct, our children and grandchildren were guests just like everyone else and if it was not our family enjoying the pool and surroundings, then it would have been another. Lagoon Breeze Villas is a family friendly property therefore we are thankful that the occupancy levels were low over this period or the noise situation around the resort would have been worse. Incidentally our new pool area development with new deck, umbrellas, BBQ and landscaping was designed to be the nucleus of the property and a place to bring the guests together and enjoy each others company.
Every morning Garth and I join our guests for breakfast where we provide a selection of 5 or more fresh local fruit prepared daily along with canned peaches and pears for those that do not enjoy our local fruit, a choice of 4 cereals (including muesli), a choice of 2 breads and condiments, orange juice, filtered water and a selection of teas and filtered coffee. This is more than reasonable for a complimentary tropical breakfast, with something for everyone. Our other guests on Trip Advisor enjoy the breakfast we provide and at no time would we serve our guests bad fruit!
Christmas and New Year in Rarotonga can be a frustrating time for guests as a lot of restaurants, services and facilities are either closed or on shortened hours. During the statutory days, our office was open with reduced hours from 8am to 12 noon and in some cases until 2pm as was the case the day you required a car and Vikki stayed back to organise this. The office is usually open from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday and reduced hours Saturday and Sunday, however during this time and on the days when only a couple of guests were in house, the office hours were reduced, however Vikki always ensured the guests were made aware of this before closing and Garth and I were on site after hours. Hopefully as the business becomes more established we will be able to provide our guests with longer reception hours.
Unfortunately despite efforts to keep insects and lizards to a minimum, they are part of our life in the tropics. However we do provide insect spray and insect coils in all our rooms.
We are disappointed you felt your shower was not up to scratch and agree that some of the existing showers have old tiles and look a bit outdated, however you will be pleased to hear that our renovation program allows for all of these to be upgraded over the next 6 months. The complimentary upgrade you received on arrival from a Garden Studio to a newly roofed and painted 1 Bedroom Villa was so that you and your travelling companion could enjoy a room each and with more space. We would have been happy to move you if you had given us the opportunity during your stay.
We do hope you will re-consider your comments and visit us again, if only to see the improvements we will have made.

“Excellent value for families with top-notch service”

Vicki and the crew were exceptional hosts. Nothing was too much trouble at all. Kids were very welcome and the pool was great. We would absolutely go back. We were there during renovations and saw the finished product- the refresh is excellent, and the team made sure there was absolutely no inconvenience. Excellent value. Vicki arranges any tours/bookings at rates equal or better to going direct so very happy overall. Would certainly recommend the two bedroom villa- perfect stereotypical thatched roof- loved it!

Room Tip: The 2 bedroom villa was great

“Wonderful place for the family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

We had family members stay at Lagoon Lodges because there were small-big kids and so they needed the room. OMG the place was amazing. My partner and I stayed at the Sanctuary but oftened went to Lagoon because it was more "homely". Our family stayed in Room 3 and 21. Both very spacious with everything that you need. The pool was great and the ocean was straight across the road. Good thing was the houses all had views of the ocean.
If you do stay here, I recommend Units 1 to 4 (smaller huts) or 21/22 (larger huts). The owner, who lives on sites is very friendly and breakfast was cereals, toast and fresh tropical fruit. When my partner and I go back to Raro, we are definitely staying at the Lagoon

Room Tip: Get the newer units (1 to 4 and 21/22) as they are up the front and get ocean views). Hopefully the...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

I just returned from a week at Lagoon Lodges and am so glad I chose to stay there again as the place is coming along nicely under new ownership. As other reviews have mentioned, the staff are fabulous and Tui's killer cocktails sure knock you for six!! It was the perfect place to stay if you wanted both solitude and a chance to mingle with the other guests and I am looking forward to popping over again next year sometime. Thanks again to all staff there as they definitely know how to treat tourists well and this is why I'll keep going back. Love ya work !!!.... Lisa
