We had a wonderful three days at the Longhouse. It was quiet, beautiful, and the room was very comfortable. We were welcomed in a very friendly manner, helped to understand the amenities of both the house and the whole island, and greeted with fresh cookies and homemade lemonade. Breakfasts were outstanding. Patty is a wonderful chef. Both Patty and Jerry were very helpful with our plans for the three days and their dinner recommendations were perfect. Each day, when we came home, there was cake or berry pie. We probably gained a few pounds but it was worth it. If we lived closer, we would visit them every year.

We chose to stay outside of the more developed side of San Juan Island, Friday Harbor, and check out Mitchell Bay. As another reviewer mentioned, it does seem like you're driving into the middle of nowhere. But don't worry, the island isn't that big and you can easily drive all around it in a day, stopping along the way. The location is perfect if you want to take a whale watching cruise; most companies actually bus you to the Mitchell Bay side of the island anyway! We did our trip with Maya's, and I highly recommend him. And the harbor is just a short walk from Longhouse!

As for Longhouse itself, the accommodations were very comfortable and Patty really does treat you like family. She greeted us the first night with lavender lemonade and brownies. She could tell that my wife really loved the lemonade, so she made up some to send with us when we left! Patty also knows the island really well and gave us great direction on all the things we could do. And the breakfast was fantastic! All in all, we were glad we had chosen the Longhouse for our stay on San Juan Island.

We absolutely love this B&B! We are repeat guests, returning at different times of the year over the course of several years. It doesn't matter what time of year you visit, it is always a delightful stay.

Patty and Jerry are wonderful hosts. There is always a special treat awaiting us when we arrive, and they both always seem delighted to see us. From the beginning, it is obvious that they love the island, respect the environment, and love to share the special aspects of the island with their guests. The breakfasts are HUGE and delicious, and it will keep you going until dinner.

The B&B is located on a small bay and it is quite serene. The house itself is spotlessly clean and full of interesting Native American artifacts, books, and items from their travels throughout the world. The floor plan is conducive to chatting with other guests or finding a solitary spot, if preferred.

On the property or on explorations around the island, we have seen otter, rabbits, deer, raccoon, eagles, osprey, and fox. The whale watching is superb at certain times of the year, and Jerry and Patty know the best places for viewing these magnificent animals.

The last time we visited, we went with our son and daughter-in-law. They were celebrating their 7th wedding anniversary. They also fell in love with the place and found it to be a romantic get-away.

We highly recommend a stay at this beautiful retreat!

These folks really know how to do hosptality from the mints on the pillows to the four course breakfast...to the lemonade and homemade brownies awaiting at happy hour. Book it!
