Stayed at the Mercure Lavasa in the 2nd week of Feb'12 along with wife and kid. It is a typical Mercure hotel you find across the world and is tailored in some aspects to Indian tastes.
Location: Mercure is at the outer edge of Lavasa, but Lavasa in itself is fairly accessible all over on foot. So the location though not central like the ITC Fortune is not an inconvenience. However, there are no lake view rooms on offer since it doesn’t offer a lake view at all. It is located around 500 metres from the Lake.
Price/Food: For 5500 we stayed a night with a late check of 14:00 hrs and a complimentary lunch and breakfast. The lunch was fairly well spread but the taste was not that great, though the desserts section looked good. The breakfast (hot and cold) was very good with the pancakes being one of the best I have had. My kid totally enjoyed the pancakes with honey served alongside. Preferred the hot breakfast section of dosa, pancakes and omelette.
Rooms: The rooms was nice and neat, beds soft and comfortable. Liked the flaming granite in the bathrooms. The rooms could have been a little more sound insulated, could hear the TV in the alongside room all through the day.
Gym/Clubhouse etc: Mercure itself doesn’t have a gym as such, but it has a tie up with the Dasvino country club. All residents of Mercure can access the Dasvino about 1 km away – basically you can use the gym and the pool and the deck restaurant. We visited Dasvino for lunch on the deck and got to know this info at Dasvino (not that we had the time or inclination to use the pool in Feb).
The lunch on the deck was nice with the serving of fish and chips okay, the butter chicken delicious and the ambience by the lake on the deck fantastic.
Parking etc: Mercure has a basement parking, quite accessible by lift. There is also parking in front of the building. I expected the parking in the basement to be a little neater though, they seem to have used it also as a storage place on the side.
Overall we had a nice stay, Lavasa is a good one time visit. The staff at Mercure were friendly and helped with small requests for the kid. The restaurant has a nice ambience, with one of the most friendly staff I have seen. In summary, if you are one who wants a lake view and would pay a premium for it, stay at the more expensive Fortune, else the Mercure is super. Liked it.
