We went to Lavasa on a complete whim, without pre-booking anywhere, which mind you is a huge risk. But I think luck was on our side. As we drove into Ekaant I had made up my mind about staying here, but alas they were fully booked! A little coaxing from my partner revealed that one room would be evacuated by about 4 pm which worked perfectly fine for us. Ekaant as it's name suggests, is a lovely peaceful haven, with a location to die for.
The entire property has sweeping panoramic views of the hills around and Mulshi lake. What we loved about it was how this place defined understated elegance. It had none of the jarring opulance you sometimes find at holiday resorts. The design of the place syncs in with the surroundings in perfect harmony.
They have very well done rooms (although basic) each with a balcony which opens to the views. However if you're a couple and want some private time then be sure to ask them if your balcony is a shared one with the adjacent room. We were lucky that the room next to ours was also empty by late eve, leaving the balcony to us for enjoying a cup of yummy steaming tea while we took in the views. The loos at this place could also do with some revamping as they are the only part in the property that don't blend in. Having said that, they were clean and the linen crisp and spotless.
Ekaant has one restaurant called Vyanjan, very well done again with a deck that opens outside. The entire place is very well land scaped and they even have an exceptionally well planned and executed walk-way into the woods with a bytterfly trail et al!
The food at Ekaant wasn't the best we've had honestly, but I don't think that's the mindset one should go with anyway. The waterfront at Lavasa has plenty avenues for your gastronomic exploits anyway. Even the vibe there is very fun and festive.
Nestled as it is in the midst of beautiful mountains which looked lush just after the rains, with wild flowers growing everywhere, Ekaant provided just the right getaway we were looking for! Also with it's very competitive pricing, this one's definitely going to be our pick for a weekend away from Bombay!
As for rooms on the upper deck, preferably room no. 5
