We stayed at the Watchman campground in May. It was the best camping experience I could remember. We had site #78 which is close to the river with a great view of the Watchman. The river was so loud you couldn't hear anybody else in the campground and sleeping was great. Get there early in the morning because there are no reservations.

We originally had plan to stay in a hotel on Zion because of the kids, i have a 2 year old and a 3 year old. But we decided what the heck. We had the best time. It was beautiful. The River is right there. There was plenty of shade. I think spot 68 is the best, it's close to the river and has good shade. We got there at 11:00 am and got a great spot. We stayed there 2 night and almost stayed a third night. You can never get bored, there is plenty to do and the staff is really helpful. The visitor center is a short walk away along with the free shuttle stop, that takes you all over. We will be back next year.

We arrived early on our first day of a week's reservation at Zion South Campground. We were delighted to be able to have a drive thru site right on the Virgin River across from a bathroom. Good thing we were close to the bathroom (no shower) because we had not realized there was NO WATER HOOKUP. We had not filled our tank so spent a lot of time that week carrying gallons of fresh water to our rig.

We had a great time and enjoyed the close access to the visitor's center and the gate with the easy shuttle service both into town and into the park. Bike paths were handy when we finally found them.
