“The Best National Park Property Ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Off-season must be the time to visit Zion. The cabins are plentiful. The buses don't run. Breakfast is included with a booking. Ice on some trails didn't even mar the experience for us.

First, check-in. The staffer at the counter was friendly and helpful, answering lots of our questions about which hikes were open and passable and which ones were not-to-be-missed. We had 24 hours to get a taste, and we didn't want to choose a hike that would take a whole day. We wanted to do several. It was great to have such insight before we started out.

The cabin (533) was the best national park lodging I've ever stayed in. It was immaculately clean. The beds were cushiony, and the linens were top quality. Even the towels were fluffy. And, we had a gas fireplace in our cabin. We basked under its glow all night.

It is important to note that one of the main reasons the cabins at Zion are so sensationally clean is they don't allow cooking in them or even provide refrigerators to keep food cold. It wasn't a big deal for us, because it got cold at night, and we kept our food for hiking in the car. But, if you've visited other national park properties and are accustomed to keeping food in the room, it would be hard to do at Zion.

The bathroom was actually two rooms - a full bath and a separate sink across the hall with a coffee maker and tea and coffee. The toiletries provided exceeded those I've had at some hotels. No need to lug shampoo, conditioner or soap to Zion, unless someone is allergic and needs a special product.

We ate breakfast at the Lodge, and it was both filling and tasty. The dinner menu prices were steep for a Lodge, almost like a nice restaurant, so we opted to go into Springdale for dinner. During high season, I can imagine food of any kind might be hard to find there, though places are plentiful.

The people assigned to this park are clearly proud of it. It shows in everything. We never saw a piece of trash anywhere. The trails were well-groomed. The roadside stops were clean. The public bathrooms were immaculate. I cannot wait to return.

“December Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed here in December 2011 and found it lovely, we thought our cabin was gorgeous and the wood burner made it really cosy, even with it being well below freezing outside. The setting was fantastic, the service was friendly and efficient and the food was great (particularly the good, hearty breakfasts). The were only a couple of small things that would have made the stay even better, one was the noise from the neighbouring cabin, I understand that they're rustic but we could hear every word our neighbours said! The other was a lack of somewhere to be able to get any refreshments after our hike, it would be fantastic (and I would think very profitable) if you could curl up with a nice coffee or hot chocolate after coming in from the cold. In summary I would highly reccomend the Zion Lodge as somewhere to really relax and unwind and take in the beautiful scenery around it.

“Wake up beside the wild peaks of Zion!”

From this lodge you reach the very heart of Zion canyon, it's a beautiful and perfectly managed recreational area to have rest, plan trips, admire the river, trees, rock formations. The restaurant offers variety from biergarten to dinner hall or lounge bar, and the personnel is really friendly. The rooms are beside the main building in a quiet area, perfeclty clean and with excellent service. You leave the car nearby your room and go on exploring on foot or by shuttle, it's really easy and, once again, excellently organized.

“Exceeds all expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Yes the room heater is horribly noisy and will wake you all night - what management idiot picked out this new system??? but staying in a romantic log cabin with a gas fireplace after an unexpectedly charming dinner in the rustic lodge- and seeing those amazing stars- then waking to the sun on those stunning red cliffs---exceeds all expectations, even for this curmudgeon. You must go to this lifetime destination. Great breakfasts and wonderful staff too. I'm so sorry I haven't been going there for years.

Room Tip: Cabins have fireplaces- magic.

“Unsurpassed”

Worth every penny to stay in the park and walk about in the evening and early morning. As a special treat take a cabin with a fire place and go in fall or early winter. Secluded- easy to hike in the cooler weather and the most fabulous breakfast buffet is included. Our favorite spot and place to stay!

Room Tip: The cabins are wonderful- private, quiet, romantic.
