“Customer Service in the Front Desk-Non-existence”

The front desk people were so snooty, rude and uncaring. Forget about the bell service because all they had was carts in front of the lodge where we had to haul up to our room without any help. I couldnt ask questions. I couldnt complain about the room not being serviced the next morning. We didnt even get towels, or shampoo and conditioning.
The rooms in the lodge we stayed at in Wuksachi were real dusty with cobwebs hanging allover the place. We didn't receive any room service.
The manager at the front desk hung up on me because I was trying to tell her about the poor service. I would not recommend this lodge to anyone!!! The bartender and the waitors were the only positive thing I can say.

Room Tip: Make sure you tell the help desk people to clean the rooms and to have bell boys to help carry bags...

My husband and I stayed here as part of our three week honeymoon in Sept 2011.

The journey from San Fran to Sequoia was a nightmare. What ever you do do not use sat nav, invest in a good old fashioned map!

However, even after an extra long journey, and having met some wonderful people along the way the national park did not disappoint.

Sequoia was breath taking, and tranquil. We hiked over the two days we were there and came across very few people, heaven.

Be aware that you do have to pay an entrance fee but it is worth it.

Staff and accommodation were excellent. The restaurant is very decadent and serves exceptional quality food which was very welcome after a long day of hiking. You must book a table early, as there are no other places to eat so seating is at a premium.

My only improvement would be to open the bar in late afternoon as we would have really enjoyed a cold beer before washing up for dinner.

We left at 6am on our day of departure and were blessed to see not one but two bears ambling across the road. Something I will remember forever.

For seclusion and peace it was perfect!,

“So-So place to stay”

Visited the Lodge after winter's first snow. They advertised they would have a snow concierge but none on the day we arrived. After arriving we were checked in and I told the front desk that I had a person with walking problems. They assured me that it was a small walk to the room. Well for an 80 year old woman with COPD, it was like a marathon.I eventually drove on the access road so that she would only have to walk a few steps to our room. No assistance from hotel staff. Room at best was adequate. Asked for a quiet room but was given the room next to the entrance and every person slammed the door and stomped their feet when they came in. Since accomodations are limited in the area, I would probably stay there again, but they need to step it up a bit. Restaurant has a VERY limted menu and nothing was open except the restaurant.

Wuksachi enjoys a monopoly, and it shows in every detail...
Rooms not ready at check in (4pm).
Front desk staff rude to the point of outright hostility.
Bins full of dirty laundry blocking the entrance to our building when we finally were given our key.
Housekeepers still going flat out at 4.30pm.
A stinking recycling bin the size of a shipping container right next to the path where you ‘stroll’ down to dinner.
Cheap plastic bath/shower fitting.
Bed terribly made with ill-fitting linen.
The heat exchanger in our room powered by an extension cord lying across the floor.
Broken grouting on the bathroom tiles.
Chipped paint, cracked plaster on the bedroom walls.
Outside, cracked paving, car park in a poor state of repair.
You too can have all this – plus shambolic breakfast with dirty dishes, no coffee and surly waitresses – for $300 NZ a night. Charged to your credit card months in advance of course!
That was supposedly the ‘deluxe’ room, bed and breakfast option.
Bottom line – someone is doing very well out of this place, and it’s not the guests.
With more staff, some much needed investment in repairs and maintenance, and professional management, Wuksachi could be something special. Instead we found it to be a pretentious rip off.

“Nice stay in the Sequoia Forrest”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Overall we had a nice stay at the Wuksachi lodge. Our room was modern, big bed, very clean, nice bathroom. The location was great, but we missed a few crucial details that were not mentioned at check in by the attendant. Firstly, we decided to order one of their famous lunch boxes for the next day. We thought it would be perfect as we wanted to be out exploring for the day. We filled out the form and put it on our door before 8pm, as was stated on the instructions. Woke up in the morning and it was still on our door. Ok, it was a bit annoying, but we though we would just have a big breakfast and fill up. We were not told what time breakfast was served in the dining room when we checked in. We turned up at the dining room at 9:45am (15 minutes too late for breakfast!) And lunch wasn't served until 11:30am. So now we were a bit annoyed, because the location was so secluded the dining room really was the only place in the Sequoia park to get a meal. It affected our sightseeing plans for the day. I would recommend the accommodation to others but just beware of the food options and maybe take some snacks with you.
