My family and i had one/2 of the best meals in the park in fact on our whole trip to the state of Washington, cooked by "chef Bob" at the Log Cabin Resort restaurant. The dining room itself is funky, with neo-gothic/early - cabin - gingham furnishings, but pay no mind. The view was fabulous, the service and wine suggestions by the waitress, Sue Ann perfect and the meal- we were planning on eating at Crescent Lake Lodge but on learning the food there was provided by Aramark.....ate here both nights instead. First night- amazing clam chowder, and we are New England Cape Cod "chowdah" snobs. Brimming with delicate (not chewy) clams in a half brothy, half creamy soup. NO heavy bacon taste, no glutenous mass of flour thickened goop- the small diced potatoes did the trick. Perfect. Had a bowl both nights. Delicious, perfectly grilled local salmon with beautifully cooked rosemary, olive oiled potatoes. Crab cakes that were filled with crab, not breading, fluffy and melt in your mouth. Razor clam "poh-boy"- grilled just right- oh my. Luscious desserts. Next night- mixed green generous salad and fish and chips- just great, too much to finish and not greasy - fresh fish taste. WE had breakfast the last day at Crescent Lake lodge. Eggs with hollandaise- almost hard boiled and the shoestring potatoes were cold, dry and tasteless. 3parties in the dining room. Come on. The waiter was great though. Bloody Mary was quite good. The camp site right on the lake was the best. I'd go back in a minute. Also, it is the only independently owned restaurant in the park. The others have a 10 year Aramark contract including Quinault.
