we just returned yesterday from our week long ski/snowboard trip to alta crystal resort. our room was spotless, the bed comfortable, and nearly everything worked just fine. the staff was great and we enjoyed the extra activities, including everyone's atrocious singing at karaoke. probably due to the complementary wine.
last week was the record snows and rains in the area and route 410 down the mountain was closed and the electricity was out for the better part of the week. fortunately, the resort has ample generator capacity and even kept the hot tub and pool toasty during the outage.
the drive up to the crystal ski resort was not a problem every day, though parking at the mountain could be a pain if you didn't arrive early enough. the mountain had some really excellent terrain, but we were a little disappointed that it was not really a vacation destination and only had 3 restaurants to choose from.
i only have a couple of minor negatives. first, many of the electrical outlets in our condo were so worn that some of them would not hold a plug at all and others had to be carefully balanced to maintain connection. second, the wifi appeared to have a limit on the number of connected devices, causing wifi devices to randomly not connect in the afternoon when all the patrons with smartphones were around. this made it difficult to check mountain conditions, weather, etc online. i'll be sure to send an email to the resort with these same comments.
all in all, it was a very nice stay and we enjoyed it immensely.
