“Repairs during high season, sub par food and staff”

Rainier was spectacular in August. The Paradise Inn did not ruin our experience of Ranier but we highly recommend you find another place to stay. We booked a room for our anniversary during August. When we got to our room, the windows were covered in paper and we could not see out of them or open them. Outside was a painter who was using a sprayer so noisy we could not hear each other in the room. The room smelled like paint. We went back to the desk and they told us they had to paint when there was dry weather and they could not give us another room. The manager also said he could not tell us when they would remove the paper from the windows. The breakfast menu looks good but our food was overcooked and the fruits and vegetables were brown and wilted.
We prepaid for the room and then they charged our credit card again. We got charged twice for this terrible experience.

Room Tip: Go to Rainier in August, it is spectacular. If you have to stay at the Paradise, ask about repairs a...

“Location is great, bed was comfortable, but windows didn't really close.”

This is one of the best places to stay in Mt. Rainier National Park. The location is perfect for hiking in the Paradise area or for having a glass of wine at night with a great view of the mountain. My husband and I liked it here overall because of the location, the bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom was clean, but the windows didn't really close, there was a lot of paint chipping off the building, and the restaurant was pretty mediocre. The views are amazing though, so just prepare yourself for a little bit of rusticness and give the Paradise Inn a try.

“Beautiful views at a historic national park lodge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

We recently spent 2 nights at the Paradise Inn. We love the national park lodges, and this one did not disappoint. The location and the views are amazing. Although I had read enough reviews to expect a small room, I must confess to being a little shocked at just how small the room was! But we quickly realized we would be in the room only to sleep; the rest of the time we would be outside or in the gorgeous and comfortable common areas of the lodge. (The lobby is beautiful, with fireplaces at each end and lots of comfortable couches and chairs to relax in). Our room, while small, was clean and comfortable and more modern than I expected it to be.
The lodge offered free guided hikes in the park; we went on 2 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Both were about 2 hours long and the pace was such that anyone could go. We learned alot about the wildflowers in the park and also the geology that shaped Mt.Rainier And of course the scenery was stunning.
The food in the restaurant was excellent..much better than at most National Parks! (Try the crab mac & cheese..it's fabulous!). As others have mentioned, keep an eye on the hours the restaurant is open tho..we went down one morning to find it already closed at 9:30 am. (There
is another shop in the lodge that sells coffee, muffins, sandwiches, bagels, etc. So if you miss out on the restaurant hours, you can go there).
We had a wonderful time here and would most definitely go back. The location is a 5, the only reason I rated the property a 4 is because of the very small room size.

“The best part is the location on the side of the mountain”

A rustic national park inn built in 1917. The rooms are small and basic, but the setting is spectacular. We were in the lowest price rooms--double bed, sink, single window with not much of a view--but step outside for one of the best views in the world (if the weather cooperates)

the lounge is casual with lots of people reading, playing games, working on their computers (no internet though), and at certain times climbers using the large tables to sort through their gear before a climb.

Only three places to eat in the area--the main dining room, the coffee shop, and during the day only--the visitor center across the parking lot.

Room Tip: Stay away from the rooms closest to the employee living areas...on occasion they like to stay up lat...
