“Best Experience of My Life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

My husband and I won a 5 day , four night stay at Kulik Lodge through a Sweep-Stakes. We were nervous as we have never fly fished before. Within an hour of our arrival the very helpful and friendly staff fitted us with boots, waders, rods and reels. We were assigned our own guide who very patiently thought us to fish. There were so many bears on the river and the scenery was incredible.
The food was wonderful and the family style dining with the other guests and staff only added to the experience. It was amazing how quickly we were transformed into fisherman with the help of dedicated and friendly Kulik fishing guides. We even fished the day we left for home, something we never imagined we would be doing. My husband and I have traveled the world and this tops our list of vacations. If you want the adventure of a life time without the hassle and anxiety of putting all the pieces together this place is for you.

This was by far the most memorable place we have ever visited. Everthing was incredible from the peace and quiet of flyfishing to the incredible food and deserts. Oh and the Bears, who could forget them. (20 bears in one view!)

The staff and guide were exceptional, everything was perfect. We hope to go back again soon

“Kulik Lodge--exceptional!”

Had a truly memorable experience at Kulik Lodge. Our first time in Katmai National Park and we picked a winner most definitely! I can understand why some of the guests have been going there every year for decades. 5-star food and service, professional and knowledgeable guides and comfortable super clean accommodations.

Don't miss a day trip to Brooks Lodge for bearviewing (Kulik sends a guide with you for the day), sockeye fishing the Brooks River (phenomenal with more bearviewing for added value), and the hike to Ukak Falls in the Valley of 10,000 Smokes. (Be in relatively good shape for this hike!)

This is the experience of your Alaska dreams!

“Alaska Fly fishing adventure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

We flew in to Kulik Lodge on July 25, 2009 from Anchorage and flew out on July 29, 2009. It was my first experience fly fishing and my first trip to Alaska. The lodge, facilities, and service are all first class. Meals are incredible and you will never be hungry. The guides will teach you how to fly fish and will take care of all of your needs. This is a very remote location and airplane is the only way to get here, but the lodge and rooms have all modern facilities including hot showers, fresh water, electricity. The staff spends the entire season at the lodge and they are all very friendly and helpful. The history of the lodge and Alaska fishing is amazing. You can fish on the Kulik River close to the lodge for great rainbow trout fishing or fly out to various locations for other species of salmon, trout, etc. For a true Alaska fishing adventure, you will not regret choosing kulik Lodge!

“Kulik Lodge Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2007

This is a destination fishing lodge but there is plenty of wildlife and sites nearby if fishing is not your only interest. The fishing, however, was excellent.

You can bring all your stuff, or nothing. The Lodge will supply you with rod, reel, waiters, boots, etc. This was extremely convenient for those in our group that had never fly fished before. There is a well stocked mini fly shop on the grounds in case you forgot something.

The lodge has it's own landing strip and we were greeted by the manager and staff immediately upon touching down. No time was wasted transferring bags, passing out room keys, issueing fishing licenses, providing equipment and getting us out on the Kulik River to fish.

Our visit was in later September which was a little late for the silver salmon but we caught ample rainbows and artic char. The Kulik River is immediately adjacent the lodge while we did short flyouts to the American and Brroks rivers on other days. Guides were polite, friendly and as always, very helpful.

At the end of a long day of fishing all I want is a cocktail, good food and easy conversation and Kulik Lodge provides exactly that. Beverages are included in the price (premium liquor poured) and the lounge area is full of most of the lodges 26 or so guests. Following an ample cocktail hour, they will provide an incredible dinner served family style at their 4 or so large dinning tables. Sit with different people at every meal and you get to know a lot of new people. Food was excellent - every meal - and ample.

Breakfasts are as good as dinners and coffee is deliverd to your cabin porch with a light knock on the door so you don't miss the fishing. Lunches are provided for your flyouts or you can return to the lodge if you fishing the Kulik.

Rooms are small cabins, two twins, small desk and chair, shower and head - all very clean. Beds were comfortable, warm and the evenings were quiet. Spent several evenings sipping bourbon and watching the sun set from the cabin porch

There are many Alaskan fishing lodges but Kulik is certainly one I would not hesitate to return to or recommend to others. They know their business, they know why you are there and what you want, and they provide it. And they do it all calling you by your first name when you get off the plane.
