“Best CG in Teton NP”

This CG is fantastic - a little known gem at the north end of Jackson Lake. My wife and I prefer to camp here and drive into YNP. The place is usually quiet and is much smaller than the other YNP/TNP CG's. The facilities are modern - flush toilets and running water. Full services (showers, laundry, campstore) are <10 minutes away at Colter Bay Village.

The lower loop has a hand full of sites that overlook Jackson Lake - they are worth lurking for. We can fit our 23' RV into these but that is about the limit on length. The upper loop sites are in the forest with good privacy- some have views of the lake. Generators are allowed in the upper loop but not the lower loop. It seems like most campers use Lizard Ck CG as a 1 or 2 day stop over as they come or go from YNP. There is frequent turnover of the premium sites. We start cruising for a waterfront site around 9 or 10 in the morning; if we can't find one we just try again the next day.

The only warning: if the lake level is very low you will have a mudflat view rather than a lake view!

“Lakeside Lizard Creek”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2003

Lizard Creek is your typical National Forest campground, with all the typical features, leaky faucets in the aging rest rooms, rugged yet adequate camp sites, and of course, fabulous scenery. Located at the Northern end of Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park, Lizard Creek provides quaint camping without all the crowds and hassles of the larger camp grounds at Colter Bay or Flagg Ranch. Lizard Creek is in bear country, and you should make sure you keep your foodstuffs in your vehicle or in the bear lockers located near each camp site. A camp host resides in the Camp ground, and programs are offered by the Forest Service throughout the week. Rugged, not too crowded, and definitely worth it, if you don't mind camping without all the amenities.
