Pros: accommodation just next to the rim / heating works perfectly in room / spacious room / free wifi at lobby / free parking
Cons: little pricy (but that might be normal for this location) paid 100usd for standard room / no TV in room / no wifi at room / thin walls,so u r able to hear ur neighbor / breakfast not included

“You can not beat the location!”

We stated at the Bright Angel Lodge in November 2011. It was very cozy. We had a basic room with a bed and bathroom with no TV or Shower. My wife was skeptical. We had a blast. You are literally within 10 steps to an awesome view of the south rim. Sunrise and Sunsets were amazing. We spent much of our time hiking.
We did hike 4 miles into the canyon and 4 miles out. I wish we could have hiked to the bottom and camped over night but we did not have our overnight gear with us. We will have to come back.
I would go back in a heart beat!

“Cozy, and oh what a view!”

We were on a 3-week vacation and stayed in lots of motels, but this one was the most "unique". Location, location, location. It is located right on The Grand Canyon's south rim. Our room was very rustic. There was no TV. We had only a double bed ( we are used to a queen or a king) and had to share a private bath. That was part of the charm of the hotel. We loved it.
The staff and visitors there were wonderful. We met people from all over the USA and the world. Everything was so well done.

My husband and I got up at 3 in the morning, just to walk outside and see the stars over the canyon. WOW! It made it nice to ride the shuttle bus around to various locations. Not to mention the grandeur of nature all around. We saw many deer, elk, and small animals--squirrels, rabbits, etc.

Room Tip: Don't worry about the shared bath. It is very private. You walk down the hall and choose a bathr...

“Rim Cabins Rule!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed two nights in January, arriving the day after eight inches of snow had dumped on Grand Canyon Village. It was clear and -9C the morning we awoke, but we slept well because the cabins are well-heated and the heater in the bathroom is a force to be reckoned with. The cabins are full of character and you can't beat the location. Our only complaint is that you have to put up with a standard double bed. Too bad they cannot put at least a Queen bed in there.

Our biggest complaint was the unreliability of the wireless internet in the main lodge. The signal strength was great, but the sign on system was hit and miss. Apparently this is a known problem and the front desk staff apologized and told us to fill out the comment card. I hope that management reads this review and does something to fix the problem.

We ate one meal in the Bright Angel Lodge (casual dining) and one at the El Tovar Lodge (fine dining) and both were excellent.

We had no problem walking around in our hiking boots. But our friends found it slippery in their trainers. We had told them it would be cold at the Canyon in January, but forgot to mention that it might snow! Still, we all had a wonderful time and highly recommend staying here.
