“Wonderfully relaxing and Friendly!!”

We had reservations for 2 nights, but enjoyed the Lodge so much that we extended our stay, and were lucky to get a room. The family-run lodge is so friendly and helpful with anything you want to do; and so was the hired staff.

The views were great; horseback riding was great; food was great; lodging was very comfortable. We went from a kingsized bed at home to a regular sized bunk, and my husband slept better than he had all year!

I'd go back in a heartbeat!!

We went over Labor Day and it was amazing. The colors had started to turn so the mountains and valleys were awash of golds, reds and greens. Sean, who owns the lodge with his wife Lucy, picked us up at the Fairbanks airport and flew us out to the lodge as this is the only way to access it. Although the hiking, riding and overall scenery are fantastic, it is the people who work and run the lodge that make the stay unique. Once you walk through the door of the main building, you feel like you have entered an old friend's home. It is truly a special place. It is good for singles, couples, friends, etc...anyone who wants to be outside for fun and inside for great food.

  • Liked — It is very comfortable. It is a backcountry lodge, so it is not supposed to be luxurious.
  • Tips/Secrets — a great place if you like to hike and ride...very remote.

“Awe-inspiring location, uniquely fantastic experience”

Denali Wilderness Lodge is a wonderful place run by wonderful people who treat the guests like family. It is set in a beautiful and remote location completely surrounded by gorgeous mountains, rivers, and rolling hills (and the animals that inhabit them). It is a perfect place for those who love to hike (we hiked for 7 days and never got tired of the views) and those who simply want to soak in untarnished natural beauty.

“Beautiful!”

We spent 3 days at the Denali Wilderness Lodge in Alaska, he end of May,2006. The new owners are wonderful hosts and the comfort of the guests is their first priority. The scenery is spectacular and the fly-in through the mountains, forests and river beds is beautiful. The owner, Sean Crotty, a former Air Force pilot, flies you in his own plane . He and his wife Lucy are so enthusiastic about this lodge and their good fortune in being able to offer the experience to their guests. If you want to get away from the mass of humanity ferried here and there by the cruise ships and their overcrowded hotels, buses, etc., all over Alaska, this is the place for you. The cabins are rustic but very comfortable with all the amenities, and the meals served are delicious. There is hiking, horseback riding, animal sighting and much relaxation in the beautiful main lodge.

We enjoyed 2 great nights at this lodge. There was much to do and see there. The room we were given was A-1, with a spectacular view. The folks working there were helpful and friendly. The restaurants on the grounds were very nice and the food was prepared well.We would indeed go there again when we return to Alaska-----Alaska is a awesome, beautiful and friendly place for a vacation. It is worth every penny you spend to travel there!!! We pray this state will always remain as it is--The Last Frontier--
