My original reservation was for 3 nights in the male bunk room. But when it got down to 25F one night at the Tek Camground inside Denali NP I called the Denali Hostel hoping they would have a bed for an additional three nights. They were very friendly (though surprised I wanted to stay a total of six nights).

I have stayed at this hostel in the past, but it has been a couple of years. The bunk room was clean and has two bunk beds. The room itself is not large, but a decent amount of storage space is available in the room.

The real plus of the hostel is the Octagon - a large kitchen and common area/lounge to cook, eat, sit, talk, meet other travelers. They keep the hostel very clean, which is a plus.

Showers are toilet facilities are shared, as is the case with most hostels.

Rate for the bunk room is slightly more than other hostels, but they have a limited tourist season. They do open early and close rather late, which is a plus. I stayed through Sunday Sep 18th which was nice (Road Lottery).

The average age of the guests at this hostel is probably slightly older than at many hostels, especially during the Road Lottery. Not that it is good or bad, just an observation.

I will definitely stay at this hostel when I am not camping inside the park.

The cabins and grounds were very nice and clean and the surrounding scenery was gorgeous. The common area (kitchen and living room) was well stocked, organized and tidy. Other guests were very good about cleaning up after themselves. The only negative thing I can say is that if you're a light sleeper you'll need earplugs. I stayed in the women's dorm, which is on the floor above the common area. Even though there are quiet hours, I could hear everything going on downstairs. But, conveniently, there are earplugs for sale at the hostel for 75 cents. Overall it was a great experience.

We stayed here for a night before heading in to camp in Denali. It was a great location right on a lovely creek. Rooms and bathrooms were extremely clean. The kitchen was huge and also immaculate with lots of room for cooking and hanging out. Definitely would stay here again.

It was amazing finding this place! In the middle of nowhere! Comfortable, cozy, clean! The staff is amazing, so friendly! The creek passing by the hostel is wonderful, so peaceful! Everyone who wants to go to Denali should stay at this hostel!!!!
