“Not bad!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We have stayed in other national parks and our room at Furnace Creek Ranch was the best so far. We stayed one night in building seven. The room was very clean and the furniture was not shabby like Maswik at the Grand Canyon or the inn at the falls at Yosemite. The only fault was the mattresses were very soft.
We enjoyed the spring fed swimming pool very much. Had no cell service (Verizon) to cancel our next night or would have liked to have stayed another night.

“Perfect Oasis in Death Valley”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

All travelers who pretend visit a park need understand some aspects.
Hotels inside the park is very expensive and don’t have a 5 star services.
Furnace creek is good to visit in winter.
The temperature is perfect, you can walk, swimming, play tennis, use the spa
The front desk is good.
The restaurant have a good food.
The entire hotel is beautiful.
Furnace Creek is a oasis in Death Valley
But don't go in the summer, never!

“Yet Another Xanterra Moment.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

In light of our experience with other properties operated under the Xanterra Corporation's concession from the National Parks Service, we had come to expect to overpay for a mediocre accomodation (in this case, a very loud one) and for mediocre food, and we were not disappointed on either score! We did notice, however, that Furnace Creek Ranch offered "wireless internet." When my wife tried to get on we were informed that we had to pay a fee. When she called the front desk she was told that "of course" she would have to pay. Apparently, $200 a night is not enough to cover the cost of providing wireless internet to guests. I suppose it is our fault--we have obviously developed a sense of entitlement as a result of staying at elite places like Super 8.

Thank you for taking the time to post your concerns on TripAdvisor. We monitor all comments on this web site whether they are positive or alternatively voice concerns with our facility or service.

This resort property is isolated and spans over hundreds of acres which is somewhat different than the layout of a Super 8 which may offer complimentary internet service. As a result, the costs associated with building the internet infrastructure at this property are considerable. In response to your concerns and those voiced by others we will include the cost of providing internet within our resort fee commencing on March 1 of this year.

On occasion we experience challenges with noise from our guests. When noise is a concern and we are notified we respond immediately. In most cases we are able to achieve a quiet environment immediately upon notification.

Unfortunately, explanations cannot usually repair a less-than-favorable experience. If you plan another trip to the area, I hope that you will contact me. I would be happy to ensure that your next Furnace Creek experience is a memorable one.

“Location, location, location!”

Stayed here for 1 night, family of 4 in one room - block 900 at the back of the resort next to equine facilities. Very comfortable room, clean & well-furnished. Lovely balcony with authentic style rocking chairs. As blocks face each other with small lawned area in between (Pontins chalet style), it had the potential to be noisy in good weather but wasn't a problem on our trip. Lovely shop on site for souvenirs but food was ridiculously expensive - $2 for an individual pot of yoghurt, $5 for a loaf of bread - we ate very carefully & would recommend stocking up on food before entering the park! We didn't eat in restaurants, as we thought they were very over-priced (big premium on location). Very good museum onsite - about a 30 minute visit does it but great to see the memorabilia of the area. Best thing about this resort is it's location - Death Valley scenery is sensational :) We loved Zebreiske's point, Artist drive & the Golden Canyon hike, all very close by & definately one of the highlights of our 1500 mile road trip!

“Upgraded after no hot water in cabin!”

We spent 3 nights at the Furance Creek Ranch with 2 other couples on a long planned getaway. The cabins were small and cozy but ours had a malfunction with the water heater. The maintenance man examined the heater and then moved our party of 3 to upgraded rooms overlooking the golf course. After we saw these rooms we would suggest that it is worth it to not book the cabins but be in the larger Furanance Creek facilities. The units were way more comfortable, larger, for 3 nights and away from the road where it was quiet We observed coyotes roaming the golf course. We did day hikes and the trip was very pleasant in January.

Room Tip: Choose a room by the mineral pool or around the golf course. Avoid the cabins if staying several ni...
