Always love staying with family here but this year we were renting rv's and couldn't get answer if tip-outs were allowed so we cancelled. Would be nice to know we have two tip-outs in one camper and one in another. We usually tent but decided on rv's this year. We have been coming here for 4 years and just location for hiking and all our grandkids (11) can enjoy each others company wheather riding bikes or just hanging by fire.

Room Tip: screen house of some type for table and food

“We love Blackwoods!”

We stayed here twice, once in June and another time in October. Both times were great, no crowds, except for one Saturday in October. The sites are nice and wooded and bathrooms are clean. Only complaint is we wish RV hookups were separated from tent sites, it was annoying listening to a generator every morning. We also wish we could pick our site. But, all in all a great campground in an amazing park!

I had a great stay at Blackwoods Campground. The check-in was very quick and smooth with my reservation. I had a great location (A28) that fit my car and my tent well. I felt safe and comfortable the whole time.

“Great campground in a natural setting, highly recommend it!”

We stayed here for a week with our 12 yr old son and dog to get back to the basics of life, natural surroundings, no electronics and just being together as a family. The sites are nice - nicer than I have seen at expensive private camprounds. Bathrooms are nice albeit the showers are $2.00 in quarters and up on the main road but are clean and hot. The site was level with a pebble & log trimmed outline along the whole site, back and around the campfire ring, with a spacious enough area in a "21' camper site" to fit our 21' camper along with our large vehicle and much space to spare. Very quiet each night even with the comings and goings of campers on either side and behind. The Ocean Path in the campground is a must every morning with your coffee to see the sun coming up over the ocean waves high on a rocky cliff. The rangers are ready to provide lots of information - only wished I had spent more time in the office for hiking recommendations. Neat to go to the Jordon Pond House for their famous popovers -- as you eat them you can imagine the ladies and gents of the 1800's sitting in the same spot eating them too! I recommend Hunter's Beach not too far up Park Loop - it's a very nice rocky beach with a babbling brook rolling down the side.

Room Tip: check availability every day as it opens up if someone cancels or changes reservations - we got a si...

“Holding down the fort in Acadia”

Blackwoods is a pretty standard National Park campground, and we definitely enjoyed our experience there. Clean wooded campsites, super nice fire pits with a grill that flipped up over the top (which came in very handy), and best of all a short walk from these amazing cliffs at the edge of the ocean. We walked out every night to listen to the waves crashing and take in the amazing Milky Way!

All the rangers are super friendly and helpful - especially Ranger Bob who told us all about the geological formation of the island during one of the nightly presentations at the beautiful amphitheater! And the price can't be beat - $20 a night total for 4 people (2 tents, 2 cars).

The only thing that was kind of annoying is that the bathrooms would get kind of gross on the weekend by the end of the day - probably due to the huge influx of people compared to midweek. It wasn't anything we couldn't deal with but hey - jus' sayin'. Otherwise our stay was awesome and we can't wait to head back to Acadia.
