“Travelodge? What's happened?”

I booked this as a base to visit Chester to do a little Christmas shopping.
If Travelodge has come to this then i'm afraid it's all over for them.
Our room was dreadful.
The flush handle wasn't attached to the toilet. The prehistoric TV simply didn't work and there were no batteries for the remote. The nice girl on reception could offer no help either. The bath taps were very dirty. There was no plug for the bath. There were bare wires for the non working towel rail. There appeared to be blood stains on the shower curtain. (YES! Seriously!). The pull down bed was torn.
I did complain and was refunded but it's not about the money!
I just wanted a decent room to sleep in.
Lets ignore the 250 mile round trip to get there. We'll also forget the disappointment of no TV. If we even overlook the horrendous condition of the bathroom, what disappoints me most is the "lets just shut him up" attitude of of the Customer Services guy i spoke to.
I have stayed in Travelodges for many years but this has tainted my view badly.
If you really must stay here, do it soon cause it will be closed within a few months!

“Wondering if this will be closed soon.”

When we pulled up at night to this travel lodge we were wondering if our car would still be there when we came back in the morning! The Little Chef looked so run down, we wondered if it still operated. The receptionist was very polite and friendly. The room disappointing. It was basic and wasn't that clean. The pillows had stains on them and no pillow cases so I asked my husband to go and get more. The view out of the window was horrible, but at least it was quiet in the room. The next morning I showered in the bathroom, which again wasn't that clean and we then left early. The Little Chef was open but we weren't tempted to go, the smell coming from it suggested lots of grease. We won't be returning to this travel lodge. The only good things were the price and the location- close to main routes.

Room Tip: I don't think any of the rooms would be great. However, I would suggested you ask not to to be o...

“Needs to be refubished”

Sadly, I can agree with most of the comments by the other reviewers on here..

When I arrived I was informed that I didn't have a booking and I was asked if I was sure I had the right hotel. I handed the receptionist my booking printout and there was a lot of head scratching.. She first rang central reservations who informed me that my 'boss' had cancelled my reservation at 6:00am that day. I informed them that I didn't have a boss, and that I hadn't been on their website for several days. Central reservations then determined that my reservation had in fact been cancelled by a member of staff at the Travelodge, because it was overbooked!

After several other calls to the person who cancelled my booking, and to the hotel manager, I was eventually given a key.

The room was disappointing to say the least, with stains on the carpet and sofa, and a generally tired appearance thought the whole establishment. The heater was too small to raise the temperature in the room as it was off when I arrived. I had to wear a sweater in bed on my first night as the duvet was so thin as to be almost useless. For my second night, I asked for an additional duvet and was given two with an admission that they weren't very good.

The only good point about this Travelodge is that its right next to the Motorway and Little Chef, which is probably the reason it was built there. It is also next to a dump and an abandoned garden centre, which is a mess. The car park is full of potholes and untidy, and the 'Travelodge' sign was partly obscured and not illuminated. I only found the site by seeing the 'Little Chef' sign which was illuminated.

Come on management, spend some money on the place or close it!

Room Tip: Only stay there if you must!

“Very dirty rooms in desperate need of refurbing but very friendly staff”

Upon check in the computer system was down. The friendly girl behind the desk was very apologetic. Eventually keys issued and off to room 24 (family room). The bath had hairs in it and more hairs stuck to the bathroom wall. The room
Had stains on the ceiling and walls.

Raised our concerns and the polite reception staff issued us room 28. This room was cleaner however you just don't expect to find staines on the sofa bed and a bathroom
Suite that needs ripping out (tile grouting is brown) - not to mention cobwebs in 3 out of 4 of the corners!

This hotel needs some money spent on it as it is old compared to a lot of
Others I have stayed in.

In reception all the staffs policies and procedures etc are on show because the cupboard door is
Missing - doesn't give the professional look from the outset.

A new cleaning regime/ rota?

On a plus friendly staff that can't do enough for you.

We feel let down travel lodge :-(

“Oh holy Jesus...”

The only positives I can think of it that a bible was provided (and i'm not even religeous), tea and coffee was there and, hopefully, the sheets were clean.
There was a constant smell of damp and I only weigh 6 and a half stone and the bed could barely take my weight, nevermind two people.
Yeah there is TV, if you like just 5 channels then you're set but if you want a flushing toilet then forget it.
We had booked a room for 4 people and when we arrived they hadn't even made up the other beds 'cause many people lie about the number staying and they don't want to make up too many beds.
In the words of another reviewer: only stay here as a last resort (which is what we did without bothering to read reviews- BIG mistake).
