We stayed in room 21 on Oct 2nd 2011 for 1 night. Booked and paid in advance months ago and have to say was a bit concerned about all the bad reviews on here.
We arrived at 1pm (so early) and were checked in by lovely helpful lady (sorry didnt ask her name) to spacious room, very clean, gorgeous view towards Lulworth Cove with the added convenience of a huge decking area directly outside room. (Can also walk down to cove from it) Honestly couldnt fault the room or facilities. And why do people seem to want to try to find fault with everything. This is a lovely old building and therefore isn't going to be perfect, but the room was as modern as could be expected, the bed was extremely comfy, much better than yr usual hotel bed (and i'm very fussy about beds!!) Bathroom was clean and functional, much better than I had expected from all the negative reviews.
We ate in the restaurant even tho we hadn't booked. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming, food was running out (as it had in whole village on account of the unseasonably hot weather for october) but what could have turned into a bad evening became instead a very pleasant experience in a lovely environment. If you go, try the devils on horseback starter, scallops wrapped in bacon. They were to die for, wish I'd had two portions, even tho portions were very generous! Lamb chops were fab too. It was a lovely fun evening too!! Will eat here when we come back, which we will for sure!! Breakfast was perfect too, fab full english, usual trimmings, all beautifully cooked and presented. Thanks Beach Hotel and yr fab lady manager (she knows who she is) we had a great time and can't wait to visit again in the very near future.
Room Tip: Room 21 was excellent but shhhh please don't tell anyone. I want it to be available for our next...
