“Absolutely Brilliant!”

We booked this hotel for 3 days over New Year at quite short notice and booked to have dinner on New Years Eve. What a lovely place. Darren and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was just amazing! The Smoked Salmon Royale for breakfast was perfect and the New Years Eve dinner was better (and much cheaper) than you would expect in a 5* restaurant in the West End. The room we had was clean and tidy with lovely views. Would definitely stay there again and highly recommend this hotel.

“Loved it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

We stayed in room 21 on Oct 2nd 2011 for 1 night. Booked and paid in advance months ago and have to say was a bit concerned about all the bad reviews on here.
We arrived at 1pm (so early) and were checked in by lovely helpful lady (sorry didnt ask her name) to spacious room, very clean, gorgeous view towards Lulworth Cove with the added convenience of a huge decking area directly outside room. (Can also walk down to cove from it) Honestly couldnt fault the room or facilities. And why do people seem to want to try to find fault with everything. This is a lovely old building and therefore isn't going to be perfect, but the room was as modern as could be expected, the bed was extremely comfy, much better than yr usual hotel bed (and i'm very fussy about beds!!) Bathroom was clean and functional, much better than I had expected from all the negative reviews.
We ate in the restaurant even tho we hadn't booked. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming, food was running out (as it had in whole village on account of the unseasonably hot weather for october) but what could have turned into a bad evening became instead a very pleasant experience in a lovely environment. If you go, try the devils on horseback starter, scallops wrapped in bacon. They were to die for, wish I'd had two portions, even tho portions were very generous! Lamb chops were fab too. It was a lovely fun evening too!! Will eat here when we come back, which we will for sure!! Breakfast was perfect too, fab full english, usual trimmings, all beautifully cooked and presented. Thanks Beach Hotel and yr fab lady manager (she knows who she is) we had a great time and can't wait to visit again in the very near future.

Room Tip: Room 21 was excellent but shhhh please don't tell anyone. I want it to be available for our next...

“Dissapointing!!”

We rang ahead and booked for two nights, arriving about 20 minutes later. We paid upfront, which was a mistake. We stayed in Room 24 which was a reasonable size but very tired and the carpet was filthy.(Perhaps our payment of 200 Pounds could go towards a new one). The bedding was clean and fresh but the bed was a disaster. A very cheap mattress when new, but old and could feel every spring. Not very good when you suffer with a bad back already. Windows had not been cleaned for a very long time, one lamp was faulty, Curtains were not hung very well and did not fit the window. Breakfast was fine on our first morning, not so great on the second. I only had eggs and bacon on both days and received 2 eggs cooked as I asked, but only 1 on day two and not so well cooked and white toast instead of the brown which we asked for. Service was quick and the waitress was pleasant so we did not complain. Did not eat in the restaurant at night as prices were fairly steep. It was not pointed out at time of booking that parking was at least 100 yards away and it was difficult getting luggage to and from hotel. We were however given a free pass for parking from hotel.
Overall a disappointing stay. I had been looking forward to staying in Lulworth for some time and the nature of the hotel took the edge off it. Definitely would not stay there again and would not recommend it.

Room Tip: Always check out room before accepting it.

“Walked in, saw the room and walked back out”

We had booked this hotel in the morning, we were already away from home and remembered
the pictures on the internet, on the hotel web site. I can assure you it doesn't look as nice
in real life. The hotel looked terrible as I walked down the road to it, but I thought I would
give it the benifit of doubt and go in. The first thing the girl wanted was money, I'm not
surprised!, you certainly wouldn't pay afterwards. I asked to see the room and it just got
worse. I guess the only good thing I can say is that the position is good.
Needless to say we didn't stay there.

“Worst hotel we stayed in”

There's a reason this hotel was the only one in Lulworth that had vacanies!! Small rooms, toilet & taps that don't work, noisy neighbours & Staff that won't help & manager & owner "not available" & never return phone calls. Car Park is nowhere near Hotel.Thankfully only had to endure one night, also it's grossly over priced and no refunds so go elsewhere. I thought Fawlty Towers was in Torquay not Lulworth.

Room Tip: None to choose from.
