“A bit tired”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Myself and my husband stayed for a couple of nights rest after christmas. The hotel looks lovely from the outside but we were a bit dissapointed with the interior,we both felt it was quite average and a bit tired looking. The service on the other hand was very good and cannot be faulted.the location is beautiful, very close to the sea and perfect for walkers.

Room Tip: We had a top floor sea view room which was quite small so maybe if u like bigger rooms don`t stay on...

“Stunning location, friendly service, great value”

Spent 3 nights utilising their Jan/Feb stay 3, pay for 2 nights offer so upgraded to the superior room with balcony and sea view. Room was beautifully appointed with period furniture including a very comfy antique 4 poster bed. It was clean and serviced daily. The rooms are above an Inn (great fireplace and local beers and ciders) so there is some noise up until about 2300 but this is clearly stated on their site so was no surprise and not a real bother to us anyway. The included breakfast was substantial and made to order so was a welcome start to each day. The sheer natural beauty of the location and the Inn's proximity to such, made this a stay we will long remember.

“Don't waste your time!”

I was left completly gobsmacked, when visiting the pub yesterday. I ordererd a prawn salad for my partner to start, followed by 2 sirloin steaks, both rare, one with peppercorn sauce & one with bernaise sauce.
Firstly I did state the prawn salad was a starter, but also its common sense when theres a table of 2 is sat right in front of you. But all three meals came out together, I did state this, but did not want the food going back in the kitchen to be put under some grill to shrivel up & dry out.
BOTH steaks WERE NOT sirloin, which was £2 more expensive, they were 100% rump & were medium-well done NOT rare. It was like eating a car tyre. I had the peppercorn sauce I had orderd but my partner did not recieve his, which we had to wait a further 5 minutes for, Not once did we recieve an apology. The peas were like bullets, & some of the chips were still frozen in the centre, they had no taste, they were literally inedible.
I will definatly not be returning. Hopefully this will help people, as we visited another pub of the chain (a glorified wetherspoons) in weymouth & had the same problems. Awful food & awful service.

Rested here for two night break post Christmas, pre New Year. A lovely spot. Room was large and well equipped. Cooked breakfasts were wonderful. Ate in restaurant both evenings and food was good/adequate. Recommend for short stay and we would definitely return.
