I last reviewed the Gardens on 8th September 2010 after our first visit there. This time, travelling with the same friends, we flew into Erkan directly from 3 days in Istanbul. ( We stayed at the Erguvan Hotel in Sutanhamet. Just reviewd it with a 4/50). We were very ready for the peace and relaxation of Bellapais.

I can only really repeat everything I said last year. This is a very special place. As soon as you arrive, you are met and greeted like old friends. It's like coming home from a long trip. Shoulders come down,bags disappear and you are sat down with a lovely cool drink.

This year we booked 2 of the studio apartments. They are lovely with a bathroom to die for. The views are as stunning as you remember with that truly amazing backdrop of the Abbey itself.The food in the restaurant is, simply, the best in town.

What really makes this hotel so special is the people. Selim, Ercan,(do hope he's recovering well from his surgery), lovely Akile, Youssef, the little dynamo who is Houriet - doubtless spelt that incorrectly, my apologies, and our lovely young waiters who looked after us each evening. The service can only be described as first class, from everyone, including all the staff you don't really see.

We are definitely going back again next year. My next task is to email Akile to get some dates!

I would love to say that this hotel is awful, you must not go there, you'd hate it because I want to keep it a secret, but that would be unfair to the wonderful people who are The Bellapais Gardens.

I suppose next year we really should try to drag ourselves out and about a bit more again, but the pool is so nice...and the wine so chilled..aahh....

İ was speand one week in this Hotel with my wife in September,it was fantastic service,room,food everithing was perfect.i already booked for next year.

Our trip was as wonderful as ever even although the weather was not that kind to us. The food was great, the service was friendly and efficient and we went home refreshed but broken hearted to leave our wonderful Bellapais Family. We have been coming for many years and they really do feel part of our family. One thing I feel that I must mention. Some travel agents book people in here without mentioning the very steep hill which cannot be avoided here. If you have any mobility problems, this could really spoil your holiday although the staff will go out of their way to try and minimise this. One poor guest had just had a knee replacement and was really struggling. Although Bellapais Gardens is really heaven on earth, you do have to negotiate a steep hill and lots of steps to make your way round heaven. This also makes it totally unsuitable for small children. Also the pool area is unsafe for younger children. Older children might find it rather boring as the hotel is the ultimate chill out zone and perfect for relaxing with a good book or a Kindle. It is very much a hotel for adults.
