“A very disappointing stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We stayed for one night only 14/15 January 2012. Our room was shabbily furnished and smelled slightly damp. There was a lamp on one side of the bed only. There was a duvet on the bed but it had no cover on and we consider the provided undersheet hygenically inadequate . On using the shower, although the screen was closed we found much water to have leaked onto the tiled floor making it hazardous stepping out.
We went to the bar for a drink namely a pint of lager for myself and a large Pinot Grigio for my wife, the cost was an unbelievable £11.15, I doubt if the Savoy charges that much!
Because we were part of a large party, a private room had been allocated, the Chatterly suite, and when we entered the room it was evident that no heating had been put on and it was freezing cold. The evening meal would have been fine if it had been served hot,my wife had to send hers back twice as all the vegetables were cold.
We are thankful we only stayed the one night and I regret I can't find anything positive to say about this particular hotel and we certainly will not be returning.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry to read that your recent stay did not meet your expectations, and would like to offer my sincere apologies for the short comings you experienced.

We do offer a large range of beers and wines on the bars in the hotel, and the prices vary greatly depending upon the items selected, with some of our premium products being a high price to reflect the premium status of the brand. Our large glasses of wine are served in a 250ml glass. We will consider your comments when we next review our prices.

I have passed the comments relating to your private dinner to our Head Chef to investigate as normally we offer a high standard of food in the hotel.

Unfortunately regulating the temperature of a large room to everyone requirements in that room can be very difficult. We are always able to change the temperature of the room on request.

I would like to thank you once again for your feedback, and hope that you will return to Eastwood Hall again in the future.

Yours sincerely,
Andrew Wright, General Manager

“Very Disapointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Very disapointed with the room, service and general atmosphere of the hotel itself. It was by no means value for money.

We stayed for one night in the hotel for a works christmas party function. The rooms were in poor states - there were loose tiles on the bathroom floor (when this was reported to reception there was no apology), the bath was dirty and the room had a general look of shabbyness. The hotel seems in desperate need of an upgrade!

We have stayed in better travel lodges and will not be staying here again.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry to read that your recent stay did not meet your expectations. I am disappointed to read that the Receptionist did not apologise for the maintenance issues in the bathroom. This is very unusual; you will see from other posts that comments are normally very positive about the team at the hotel. It is normal practice for us to offer you a different room if we are unable to rectify any faults that are reported and I am very sorry this did not happen.

I would like to thank you once again for your feedback, and hope that you will return to Eastwood Hall again in the future.

Yours sincerely,

“Horrible Hotel, 'Travelodge better'”

Me anf my wife booked two nights at this hotel over the new year period. From the outside the hotel looks very nice and the hall is set out nice to but when we got to our rooms we where very disappointed. Old fashioned decor with a tv that is out of the 80's and the picture was very poor. The bathroom smelt of damp constantly and the noise from other guests was ridiculous. The pictures that you see of the white building is there conference room not the hotel so please don't be fooled. The gym and swimming pool was shut half the day on new years day. I complained to reception but got told they have it on the door when you walk in, shame they don't have it advertised before you book it. And then to top it all of when we tried to check out the reception staff tried to bill me twice and for breakfast which we did not have or order. I payed £140 for two nights at this hotel and would expect better service!!!!!

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review.

I was disappointed to read that your stay did not meet your expectations. As I have mentioned in previous responses the hotel has only been open 11 years, so of our bedrooms do have a more traditional feel to them. The TV’s, while the old style are still in good working order.

The leisure club was open between 9am – 3pm on New Years day, and I have taken on board your comments regarding the short opening period and we will review this ready for 2013.

I am sorry for the attempted overcharge of your breakfast; I was pleased to read that the receptionist did remove this from your final bill on request.

I would like to thank you once again for your feedback, and hope that you will return to Eastwood Hall again in the future.

Yours sincerely

“New Year Celebration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Our weekend stay to bring in the New Year with the Gala Celebration was well organised and presented with staff overseers making sure every table was served. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The tv was adequate (5 good channels) but not a priority. Friendly staff through out our stay. Breakfast on New Year's Day and the following day was plentiful and hot with coffee and peppermint tea arriving promptly. Dinner that evening was very tasty especially the Goat's Cheese & Spinach Tart and the Vegetable Strudel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Eastwood Hall to friends and family.
