“Different!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

At the end of a very long bumpy non metalled road, in small fishing village. The owners are trying to attract additional visitors for looking at wildlife, instead of just fisherman. What they have is a most marvellous chef, who produces wonderful meals with fresh ingredients. However, the rooms were not particularly good quality and very old fashioned. I was down a level, with a lovely view looking over the garden, but the room and small shower en-suite felt damp, which indicated maybe it hadn't had a lot of use, but it should have been at its best at the end of a very long hot dry summer. Luckily I always carry spare batteries, which I used in the TV remote control. It was impossible to use the old TV without the remote. After our very pleasant meal, the owner was the worse for wear drinking with the fishing people, so I adjourned to bed.

“The best place in town”

My stay at the Inn was very pleasant. The friendliness of the staff and the delicious food served at the Blue Heron were the highlights. It is difficult to find staff when booking in or checking out, but if you are not in a hurry this should not be a problem. Breakfast is served with a smile from 5:30am and dinner service goes until everyone is fed.

We had a wonderful experience at Cedars Inn &Zeballos Expeditions. The owners and staff were incredible. The fishing was the best fishing trip we have ever had. It's a little hidden treasure. We plan to return next year.

“excellent hotel, wonderful staff”

We arrived with three young children, and from the moment we arrived the staff did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and hassle free. We had a little bungalow with a fridge, stove and tv which was big enough to have friends over. The owner set up a croquet game on the lawn for us, and the kitchen were very accommodating as to meals and warm bottles for the children. The staff were friendly and accommodating; we found the whole experience memorable - for the right reasons.

“Heaven in a little village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2008

We stayed one night in their "honeymoon suite" after a long kayaking trip. The room we had was spacious with little kitchenette and sofa and TV. The bathroom was great, big tub with jacuzzi features made the day - after all we hadn't had shower in a week! Interior desing had stayed in the 70's, but I reminded myself that we where "in the woods", not in a busy city.
The hostess welcomed us in already before noon, showed us where we could hang our wet kayaking gear. Later in the evening we enjoyed her cooking - wonderful fish with perfectly fresh vegetables and very filling dessert pie.
This place is so much better than the other hotel in Zeballos village, I am still surprised how the other hotel dares to keep same price for the room as Cedar's Inn (or Mason's Motor Lodge, same building with 2 names) does. Our "honeymoon suite" cost 145CAD + tax, it was worth of it.
When we return to Zeballos for another kayaking trip, we'll very likely stay at this place if the owners still are there.

  • Liked — frienlyness, easy going hostess
  • Disliked — old furniture
