“Magnificent Italian villa with a world quality restaurant”

Beautiful, welcoming hotel with a fantastic gourmet restaurant. Had three fabulous dinners at a very reasonable price. Stayed one night as we were charmed by the hotel and its very friendly, helpful staff. We visited in the winter and it was a marvelous experience, The summer time would be wonderful as they have beautiful grounds and a large, lovely pool. The area is very interesting as it is situated at the base of the Dolomite mountains and is one hour from Venice.

“Charming Hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2010

A charming hotel with a delightful innkeeper and staff! We stayed a two nights over Christmas, and enjoyed it greatly. The staff was eager to please, the town of Budoia is a nice town, and the beautiful St Andrew the Apostle church and main piazza is a short 5 min walk down the street.

Breakfast and internet included...excellent Italian breakfast and our baristas were able to come up with anything we asked for on the spot. The first afternoon, I went down for coffee and it was just before Mass so I needed a little pick-me-up to shake off the jetlag...he produced some bite-sized rolls with proscuitto and some excellent espresso! After the first morning, the "morning barista" Anna remembered I liked cappuccino, and asked me if I wanted one before I even asked! She also fetched some proscuitto and formaggio for breakfast when I was a little early for breakfast!

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and big for Europe, and the bathrooms while furnished in old-school European style where spacious and clean. The beds were the only "sore" spot...our bed was clearly worn out and badly in need of replacement.

We felt more like guests in someone's home rather than at a hotel, and our innkeeper Anika really made is feel at ease. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

“feeling at home at Ciasa de Ghaja”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

This small and fascinating hotel is the best choice if you are looking for a country and welcoming hotel with high class restaurant and firendly staff.
The rooms are spacius and decorated with classic fornitures. The owner Adriana is really hospitable and helpful, the attention to details focalized on the restaurant makes your stay at Ciasa de Gahja an unforgettable experience: there are several areas each of one is different, the fireplace table is my favorite, is near an old and big fireplace that gives a romantic touch to your dinner . The kitchen is great, creative without forgetting the reagional traditions, good wine choice focalized on friuli region, one of the best in Italy. The location is perfect, inside a beautiful garden and closby the budoia center, a small village sourronded by beautiful forest and mountains.
If you are looking for a quiet place where spend relaxed time feeling at home having a glass of wine in front of the fireplace you can't miss Ciasa de Gahja!

“Fantastico! Bravo!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

My Italian friends Gemma and Glauco that live close by suggested the hotel. After reading the reviews prior to our trip I was pleasantly surprized as I think Ciasa de Gahja is a great place to stay! Yes the room could use new carpet and a new vanity. That said, the room was huge by EU standards, very clean, had AC which is not the norm in most small properties, the bed was huge and compfortable and the pool/restaurant area was just perfect! The food is the focus here and it was amazing! I am a huge foodie and lover of Italian cusine and was never let down by the quality, innovation, service and selection of local wines! I highly reccomend this hotel for lodging and excellent food!

“Needs Renovating Badly”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2010

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Ciasa de Gahja recently and were somewhat underwhelmed. While the grounds are very lovely and well kept, as is the pool, our room was rundown. The carpet was disintegrating, the bathroom was out of the 1950s and our bed sunk about four inches in the middle and was clearly well used. I believe that during its heyday it was probably a lovely place, but it is in desperate need of a makeover ASAP. On a positive note, the breakfast was nice.
