Settlers is not located in the best area, but we had no problem with the studio room, apart from it being very pink. Decor & bathroom fittings probably need updating, but clean and the bed was comfy. We always ask for a quiet area, as most motels are on a busy road and we got it. Robin ,the owner was very helpful with information on the train into Wellington, the station was within walking distance and where to eat. This was the only motel that we stayed in NZ that had a leaflet from Qualmark asking for our opinion on the rating. We opted to eat at the Working Mens Club, just around the corner. Great food and prices and a safe atmosphere. Family orientated. Petone is an ok place to shop & dine.Lower Hutt has a lot more shops.

Excellent motel to stay at. About a 5 minute walk from the Petone Train station where it is three stops into the main Wellington station.

The motel unit was quiet, very clean, and the beds and pillows very comfortable. The proprietor was helpful and we were able to check in earlier than requested without issue.

Breakfast ranges in price from $10-18 depending on whether it is continental or cooked. Wireless internet is also available although we did not make use of it.

The Settlers Motor Lodge is located in an industrial suburb of Wellington. Presumably its location is suitable for commercial travellers, but not for tourists wishing to visit Wellington. The staff is friendly, but the place is rather run-down, moldi showers and worn paint everywhere. Not a place I would recommend.
