“The best staff anywhere in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The staff at this hotel go out of their way to ensure that you have a wonderful stay. Without exception, the restaurant team, reception and bar staff were so polite and friendly. Special mention to the events and conference team - Ann and Rose who really pulled the hat out of the bag, they were worthy of 5 gold stars on their own. My husband and I will definately be going back there!

“Great service but poor nights sleep”

The hotel is an imposing building set in extensive parklands but the accommodation is rather tired.

Firstly I need to say that there were plentiful staff and they were excellent. Delightful and good at their jobs.

We eat in the the bar and the ambience, food and service were great.

Our only gripe was that the bedroom was hot and we were unable to open the window. As I said earlier the accommodation was rather tired and the window was probably painted shut. Result one very bad nights sleep.

“A weekend just wasn't long enough!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

A recent weekend stay at Mottram Hall just wasn't long enough. We had the 'Beaumont Suite' which was luxury on tap. The greeting at reception made one feel very welcome indeed. We made full use of the Hotels facilities, a visit to the well equiped health spa and a swim in the generous sized pool before dinner and each morning before breakfast made a great start and end to each day. A warm welcome in the restaurant and a very impressive menu and wine list left us spoilt for choice. The food was an experience to remember for a long time..not only wonderful flavours, but the presentation was amazing. We asked to see and thank the chef, 'James' appeared and was totally charming, he spoke of the kitchens pride in their choice of ingredients, preperation and presentaion, he obviously enjoyed where he was and what he was doing! We are looking forward very much to our next visit. Thank you Mottram Hall!

Room Tip: The rooms without exception are all well equiped and comfortable... but go that extra mile and reser...

Dear BrianSterling

I appreciate the time you have taken in leaving a review on trip advisor following your recent stay with us at Mottram hall.

My main focus since being at Mottram Hall has been on the welcome experience and providing the very best hospitality available, as I feel this sets the scene for the whole stay, and it is very pleasing to note that my teams are delivering the warm welcome we all would like to experience when arriving at a hotel.

In my time here I have been very proud to have seen a continued and marked development amongst my team, of a desire to provide the very highest standards of service and hospitality. We have achieved much over the past few months but also recognise that there is still much to do to further improve and enhance the standards we provide. I am a firm believer that it is the people that make a successful business and at Mottram that is hopefully plain to see.

James was very proud to have provided you with such an enjoyable meal and to have the opportunity to talk with you directly after your meal, and he has asked to be associated with my sincere thanks for your feedback.

I look forward to welcoming you back to Mottram Hall in the near future for what I am confident will be an equally enjoyable visit.

Best Wishes

“Would have been 5 but.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We stayed here for a weekend in October as a birthday treat.

I used to live in the area and indeed dined there on the occasion of my 18th birthday. Had also attended functions there and was aware many years ago Manchester United used it as an occasional bases.

This was however a first overnight stay.

Our room was fine overlooking the front in the modern block. Beds were comfortable although mobile signal wasn’t too good, some may like this!

Breakfast was fine too and there was plenty of choice. We enjoyed a couple of drinks in the bar in the afternoon. We had a couple of pleasant trips out in to the countryside.

Our stay was spoiled somewhat by and event on the Saturday evening which was reported and our room was attended by the Duty Manager. In brief on the Saturday evening 2 young male guests entered our room when my wife and I were in the room. They were carrying drinks. They thought this was their room and didn’t leave until I was pretty direct as they were convinced it was theirs despite our stuff being on display.

This certainty was probably fuelled by them believing that they had entered using their electronic key. I was told it was impossible that they would have the same access but then how do I know someone hasn’t made a mistake and issued them with a keycard that gets in all rooms?

I rang down and the manager appeared. We think that the door didn’t fit properly and so despite them thinking they had opened with the key perhaps putting the card in and pushing had gained entry by physical movement rather than electronic means.

Either way my wife and I were clearly shocked. The manager issued new keys and we were very careful how the door closed, frankly the staff cleaning these rooms should maybe have reported a weakness.

Clearly a worry and wonder what could have happened had we been out of the room.

Dear smjak02

Thank you the time you have taken in leaving a review on trip advisor following your recent stay with us at Mottram hall.

Firstly thank you sincerely for your kind comments regarding your stay in general.

I am glad to report that since your visit with us back in October that we have invested heavily in the infrastructure at Mottram hall including the installation of mobile telephone booster aerials and Wi-Fi throughout the property, this was following similar feedback form other guests staying at the hotel.

I was very disappointed to learn of the situation you have kindly informed me of namely that other guests gained access in error to your accommodation. As this was back in October it would be challenging for me to pass any meaningful comments regarding the circumstances, other than to apologise sincerely for any distress this may have caused you. The lock system in October was somewhat dated and in recognizing this fact we have replaced every lock in the building with the most up to date lock system available.

I have briefed my housekeeping team to be extra diligent in reporting any defects with any doors be assured that I do take the matter very seriously and every possible action will be taken to prevent further instances of this nature.

I do hope that you are able to return to us in the near future to see the improvements we have made since you were last with us.

Best Wishes

“Relaxing Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We booked a weekend break at a bargain price to get some rest & relaxation and were not disappointed. Even as we were carrying our bags from the car a gentleman stopped to welcome us and ask if we would like assistance, and from that point on it seemed that nothing was too much trouble.

Checking-in was simple and very friendly, and we learned some of the character of the old buildings getting to our room. (The only negative point we had was cobwebs in the room, so not a show-stopper!)

We enjoyed relaxing in the Spa a couple of times with the snow falling and blowing outside, although we were too late to be able to book any treatments which was a shame. Whoever built the Spa should have switched their brain on and created slopes to channel the water into drains rather than have it sit in deep puddles, though.

Dinner at Nathaniels on Friday and the Golf Club after the Rugby on Saturday were both excellent and not badly priced given where we were, and the breakfast (with decent decaf) was also to die for. Despite being crowded as all the guests seemed to want a last breakfast, the Maitre d' did a superb job of managing the guests with a smile on his face.

Being almost snowed-in could have put a dampner on the weekend but the great facilities and friendly staff meant just the opposite; we were positively forced to chill and enjoy ourselves, and by the time we checked-out the hotel roads and paths had been effectively cleared for a safe departure.

Would we recommend Mottram Park for a chill-out weekend? Yes we would, as long as you accept that tiddled wedding guests will be noisier getting back to their rooms than you would hope for - but we've all been there!

Dear Mighty Red

Thank you for the time you have taken in leaving a review on trip advisor following your recent stay with us at Mottram hall.

I am really very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us, and were able to enjoy all of the facilities whilst with us. I have passed on your kind comments to Richard the chef and Harry the restaurant manager regarding your dining experience, they have asked to be associated with my thanks for your kind comments.

We do pride ourselves on the warmth of our welcome and the delivery of great hospitality, and I am really pleased that you felt we lived up to your expectations in this regard.

Credit to our greens team for clearing the roads ready for departure, I also spent much of the Saturday ensuring we kept the front of the hotel clear, a challenge bearing in mind the level of snow we experienced.

Please accept my apology for the cobweb in your room, Nicole the head housekeeper has been made aware of this and has asked me to convey her personal apology.

Thank you once again, and I do hope we have the opportunity to meet in the near future.

Best wishes

Iain
