“Wonderful, personal place to stay”

I must say, I began my trip with some reservations because I was traveling alone for the first time. I purposefully sought a smaller hotel, and I found the most wonderful place I could possibly imagine. Chris and Dave run a beautiful spot with the most gracious staff I have ever encountered. The other guests were friendly and warm - they too were looking for just this environment. The personal attention was noticeable everywhere. For example, if I was sitting alone in the lounge Sam the bartender would come and visit. It rained one day and when I left my room there was an umbrella waiting right outside my door. The other guests invited me to dine with them and I never really felt alone. And on top of all this - the food was great. Something different every day! Breakfast and dinner along with tips were included with the gorgeous view and room. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

I can't wait to return and bring my husband with me to experience this delightful find.

“Relaxingly refreshing”

I visited Long Bay Hotel with my family and found it incredibly relaxing with beautiful views of two bays and an aura of pure and simple class. We enjoyed a wonderful steel drum band during a delicious beach dinner at the beach-side bar after a day of snorkeling, sailing, and reading by the beach. Also, the dining room serves delicious food and there is delightful entertainment provided by local musicians.

“secrets of relaxing”

Long Bay is a small old-style country club type hotel ,steering well clear of all-inclusive amenities. The stress is on ambience and slowing down: Dave, the manager, bends over backwards to meet your every need, the staff are smiley and relaxed, the bedrooms are comfortable and large, there is always an Atlantic breeze ;the beach bar(part of the hotel) is excellent. Don't look for ritzy touches; the dinners are(no more than that) o.k. It's a great place for a week or so to wind down. We enjoyed our 9 days immensely. Private ownership makes it personal and affectionate and it deserves to survive and thrive in its slightly quirkish and delightfully unmodish way.

“Fantastic hotel, great holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2008

This is a fantastic hotel on a beautiful bay in Antigua... we have just come back from a wonderful holiday.

For fellow travellers a few points to note to see if this is the righ hotel for you....

This is a small hotel c20 rooms so it is quiet, intimate and relaxed. There is no blaring music, drunken tourists or continual entertainment. There are also no televisions throughout the hotel (great!!!)

It's not an all inclusive hotel, for the room rate you get breakfast and dinner included - both meals were excellent, great food and high quality. Dinner is a choice of two dishes for each of the five courses, both of which were excellent every night. One of the things I loved about the hotel was that you did not have to book dinner in the morning, dinner is from 7:30 to 9pm and you can turn up when you are ready!!!

As the drinks are not included they are of better quality, cans of cola, decent wine and fruit juice. Our "extras" bill was £210, or $400 for 7 days which covered lunch for two every day, lots of soft drinks, water and a plenty of wine.

The hotel doesn't have a pool but this is more than compensated by the lovely beach, great beach house restaurant and the sea at Long Bay. I was surprised that each day people came to the beach and restaurant from other all inclusive hotels, The Verandah and Pineapple Beach Club (both 5 minutes away). They were hapy to pay for lunch, drinks etc so they could use the lovely sun loungers and enjoy the quiet of the beach. Talking to a few of them they said they came to this part of the beach as it was quieter, the snorkelling was better and the food really good.

Our room was lovely, very spacious, plenty of hanging space, great shower and a wonderful balcony overlooking the bay which caught the morning sun.

What I really liked about the hotel was the relaxed friendly atmosphere, there was a library with over 1000 books that guests could borrow (no booking system ordeposits etc) a great pool table and table tennis table (all free). It felt like being at home!

Would thoroughly recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxed hotel

“Charming, quiet, beautifaul, it really is a little bit of paradise”

I just returned from a week stay at Longbay and it was fantastic. The food is excellent, the beach is beautiful, the hotel is quiet and peaceful. You can't quite put a finger on it, but there is something about this place... much of it has to do with the people and it unique location.

The hotel has a mix of guests many of whom return year after year. If you feel social, cocktail hour in the lounge is a great time to chat with the other guests. However, if you wish to keep to yourself there is plenty of quiet spaces at this quaint oasis.

The days are peaceful and the island is easy, friendly and safe so you feel free to wander around and enjoy the area. I highly recommend renting a car for at least a couple of days during your stay. The hotel will arrange it for you once you arrive.

David and Chris are excellent hosts and make sure you have whatever you need. The staff are friendly, and make a mean rum punch.

The rooms are clean, romantic and charming. We were in the lower rooms and there was a beautiful breeze through the windows so no need for air conditioning. The sea is literally out your window. It is not a B&B despite what this website says.

Try it, you won't regret it!
