We spent two nights at the Le Giron de I'lse B&B on Ile d'Orleans, Quebec, Canada. Excellent logding and setting. We had a tastfully decorated two room suite with a balcony overlooking the St Lawrence River. It was close enough to walk to the beach. Our hosts made us feel quite at home, but since we speak no French, communications were a bit difficult. B&B is less than one hour from the Quebec airport. However, once on the isle, finding the B&B was a challenge. We would have benefitted from a better map.

We had two wonderful French countryside meals, at Le Moulin de Sainte Laurent and Le Canard Huppe. Meals were very much like being in European France. Both are highly recommended.

One day to see the Isle and visit all of its six towns was sufficient. It made for a full day, but was still enjoyable. It was interesting to see the different catholic churches, and how the churches reflect the character of the towns, from very simple to somewhat sophisticated.

If staying in Quebec, then an overnight on Ile d"Orleans would work fine, for the scenery and food. We considered the meals on the isle better than meals in the City of Quebec, both in quality and ambience.

My husband and I found this B&B on Tripadvisor and chose it based on the reviews. We were a bit nervous as the reviews almost seemed too good to be true. However, we were pleasantly surprised that they were right on target! Gerard and Lucie were wonderful hosts! Lucie is an excellent cook (she carefully keeps track of what you've eaten so that you don't get the same meal twice) and their lovely B&B is spotless and perched right on the river bank with wonderful views of the St. Lawrence. We weren't sure about staying on Ile d'Orleans instead of staying in the city, but now we are SO glad we did. Ile d'Orleans is a beautiful, quaint little island right in the middle of the St. Lawrence River, across from Quebec City. It didn't take us long (maybe 30 minutes) to drive from our B&B to the city. We highly recommend this B&B and will definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Quebec!

Giron de L'Isle is a 5 bedroom B & B overlooking the St Lawrence Seaway on Isle D'Orleans near Quebec City. About a 40 minute drive to the city thru rolling farmland, apple orchards and 18th century homes. Lucy and Gerard, our hosts took great pride in their immaculate and beautifully decorated rooms. We had a room overlooking the river. Breakfasts made by Lucy would rate higher than any 5 start restaurant. A 5 course gourmet feast. Fruit cut into perfect designs, Flowers accenting each course. Crepes, waffles, amazing presentations of eggs, luscious desserts and individually made coffee. Our vacation was enhanced by these morning feasts before heading off for a day of exploration in Quebec City and surrounding areas. I would highly recommend this B & B.

We only stayed one night during a recent trip to Quebec City, but we could have stayed here and traveled in daily(about 20 minutes away). The Au Giron is located on the south side of Ile d'Orleans with a view across the St. Lawerence to the south shore. Our room was on the second floor with a garden view, but it was quite large and very nicely decorated. Everything was very clean and we were made to feel very much at home. There was a coffee urn provided in the morning and a five course gourmet breakfast that still leaves us wondering how Madame Lucie does it every day. This breakfast I'm sure contributes to the 5 star rating for this B & B. You will not find anything better anywhere. Definetely no need for lunch each day that you stay at the Au Giron de I'Isle!
