We've stayed here four or five times. It's a dog friendly, designer hotel in the most relaxed and calm part of Cabo de Gata. The Hotel has lovely pool, terrific architecture in a good space and magnificent cacti, with friendly and attentive staff. We've been in high season and in low.
It's a fabulous treat in winter when the skies are blue and you can sunbathe and even swim. The food in the restaurant is pretty good (tho in the high season, the restaurants in the lovely village of Rodelquilar just a walk away are very tempting (try the Brazilian family's restaurant , try Fidel's and go to the blues bar run by an old Harley Davison freak).
We recommend the Hotel to all our friends, young and old, as one of the very best and quietest places to stay in Andalucia. The beaches nearby are great and so is the Botanical garden in the village. Oh and the walking is wonderful too. As my wife said, "Why bother with Goa. This is heaps better."
The hotel has a gym and a spa but we've not used them. What's not to like? Well, the dining room is not very romantic. But as I said above, there are places in town a short walk away
While in the area, go to Nijar, about 20 km away. The little town is famous for its pottery. Mathew Weir, an Englishman married to Isabelle (a Nijar lady) is a seriously good and original maker with collectors coming from all over to buy their work. Their shop (La Tienda de los Milagros)is a joy.
