“LOVED THIS PLACE!”

My sister recommended this wonderful location as a place to bring our mom for her 80th birthday. It was everything we wanted and more! The staff was fabulous and extremely helpful. We loved the natural beauty surrounding this resort. We enjoyed shopping and eating on site, but were close enough to drive into Santa Fe for the day. We enjoyed the walk down to the Rio Grande and sitting on the porch viewing the beautiful mountains. The memories we made during our long weekend will last a lifetime. I can't wait to return!

“AMAZING”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Love, love, love this place. Located in an out of the way location yet still close to town for anything that you might need. The staff was amazing. The grounds were gorgeous. Had a wonderful walk through the cottonwoods down by the Rio Grande. Definitely would recommend this place.

“Quiet, beautiful, perfect - stay here.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Friday morning, as we were driving to work, my wife and I decided a last minute vacation was needed to restore our mental state. So we decided to take the afternoon off and hit the road. After tossing the dart a few times we decided that we would visit the Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico - a short 13 hour drive from our home in North Central Texas.

A quick search of the Hyatt website found a perfect spot for us to launch our explorations from.

The Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa.

Only a couple of hours from the park and an absolutely beautiful resort hotel. We checked in very late Friday night with a great welcome from the valet. They whisked away our small collection of bags and met us at the reception desk.

Truth in review time: I stayed using Hyatt Points at the resort, and with my level of membership I was upgraded to a suite, with snacks and beverages. Turn down service too.

Our suite was outstanding. A gas fireplace, 3 standing balconies over looking the Kiva Pool, huge bath and large dining table - plus best of all - a full size coffee pot that ground the fresh beans.

We strolled the facility that evening and found it very welcome and very well appointed. We strolled through the open-air part of the lounge and sat by the roaring fireplaces. The overhead heaters were very welcome. It was magical.

The next day, we headed to Chaco Canyon. The valet had already moved our car out to the front door by the time we arrived. We started the day with a very filling breakfast buffet. It was nice, a few different selections than normal. Excellent service.

Arriving back after they day's trip we had a few drinks in the lounge before strolling to the Corn Maiden, their gourmet restaurant.

We had no reservation but were seated immediately with plenty of attention and fine service. We both had a rotisserie that included duck chicken and shrimp. The meal was exceptional, perfectly prepared and balanced. The servers were right with us all the way and we felt very pampered. We both ate our fill and had some left over.

The second night was another great night's rest on the large king bed with excellent linens.

The valet, upon our departure, helped us load the car, got us ice for the cooler and even insisted that we take a few bottles of water along for the trip.

So... I do not know if everyone gets treated this way while they are at Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa, but I did, and thats why they will always be on my list of MUST-STAY resorts.

From the welcome, to the departure, the room was excellent, the dining experience perfect, the outdoor lounge relaxing, service and attention to detail over the top.

Room Tip: Bargain for a room upgrade when you arrive, and spend a few extra dollars - it is well worth the inv...

“Heavenly Resort (but skip the suites)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

This resort is located in an amazingly beautiful place. The architecture is in harmony with the natural surroundings. You definitely have a feeling of being isolated here, but also enjoy comfort and fine service. And if you get bored, the Santa Ana casino is only two miles down the road. The place has an energy that is appropriate for this region. The property lends itself to appreciating the great outdoors. Multiple pools are set beautifully around the property. There is an abundance of outdoor space that make full use of the inspiring views. It is more than a place to stay, it really is an experience.
Every member of the staff I encountered was courteous and well trained. When I got out of my car in the parking lot, there was a shuttle bus waiting to bring me to the lobby. I was part of a conference that took over the entire property. The entire event flowed flawlessly. They could handle the large crowd without compromising on service.
The Santa Ana Café was a great place to eat. It is the more affordable dining option. (I never made it to the pricey Corn Maiden.) Each night there is an option for a well-priced buffet (I think $18.95). The menu offers lighter items like sandwiches and burgers as well as nice dinner entrees. The green chili appetizer was awesome as was the special of the day; a piece of mahi mahi served over some absolutely memorable mac and cheese.
The spa was great. I did not have any treatments there but I got great use out of the outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Most of my visits I had the entire place to myself. It added to the serenity and relaxation of my stay.
Now that I have sung the praises of this place let me add one piece of negative criticism about their suites. And I have to say I feel bad about doing this because I was given a complimentary upgrade to this room after having already received a bargain room rate as part of a conference. In my opinion their suites are not very well designed.
•When you walk into the room you are next to what appears to be the kitchen. There is a full size refrigerator, a full size sink, more counter space and cabinets than I have at home. But that is where it stops. There is no microwave or anything to cook with; there are no dishes or utensils, no pots or pans. I can understand a hotel not wanting guests to be cooking in the rooms, but then why build something that clearly is supposed to be a kitchen?
•From the kitchen there is a counter that extends out into the living room. Beyond a doubt it is meant to be a bar. The overhanging counter is designed for bar stools, but there are none, although there is plenty of room for them.
•The desk is in the bedroom. It is essentially a piece of furniture, not a functional work station. The desk top matches the other furniture; it has kind of a “plank look.” Two inch wide boards look nice and rustic. But try writing on it. Your pen pushes through the paper over the spaces between the boards. It should be a flat work surface. The lamp is a tiny little end table lamp with an energy saver bulb. Want to make a phone call, just walk across the room to the end table next to the bed. The table does have outlets mounted on the front.
•In the bedroom aside from the desk there is a bed and dresser. Although there is plenty of room there is nowhere to sit; no chair, no bench, just lots of empty space.
•The bathroom is the same bathroom found in a standard room. It is large and functional, but there are no added amenities. There is no vanity or double sink; features you might expect to find in a suite.
•Two bathrobes appeared on the last night of my stay.
I was delighted with my stay. The upgrade to the suite was an added bonus. But if I was paying the premium price this suite normally costs, I really would have been disappointed. With this suite you get extra space, but no additional luxury or amenities. If I were in a standard room I would have been very comfortable without having to point out any of these shortcomings.
And let me throw in one more pet peeve observation. Throughout the property there are fancy glass water dispensers and pitchers. Ice water with fresh fruit floating in it is a really classy touch. Here is the problem. They pack these things so full of ice and fruit there is hardly any room for the water. It seems after three glasses the dispenser becomes a vase filled with only ice and fruit. There were staff members continually running around with pitchers of water to refill the empty dispensers.
I organize bus tours of the southwest. I am now thinking of trips I can run that would be based from this magnificent resort. I know that I could bring a group here and they would be delighted with their experience.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms can be along hike from the lobby. This could be an issue for folks with mobility...

“Restores my soul...comfort and beauty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

What a beautiful spot on the earth. This hotel nestles into the landscape comfortably. I've been a couple of times since it's only 20 miles from home. It's a great place to disappear to for a couple of days although it is smack dab in the middle of an area where there is plenty to do. But we never leave the resort. The rooms are nicely appointed. Beds very comfy. We take our dog and she loves it there too. THere's even a goody bag for the dog! Cultural activities from the nearby pueblo are featured on a regular basis. I can't say enough about this lovely place. It is kid friendly with a great pool and water slide but they also have the "quiet" pool and it is VERY nice. I just LOVE this place and will return as often as I can. If I had to have a criticism it would be.....hmmm can't think of anything. How rare is that?!? Seriously...and the food in the cafe was also lovely.

Room Tip: Quiet rooms face the golf course...
