Visiting from London, a friend from Adelaide booked us a 2 night stay at the Beach Huts in early Feb-11 as part of our South Australia visit. We ended up extending our stay an extra night as we were liked it so much.
Check in was quick and smooth, very friendly chap. Free movies/DVDs are available in the 'office' (which is also a little beach hut) along with local tourist info and pamphletts.
The huts are beautifully presented and really inviting. Hats off to whoever was in charge of decorating and appointing the rooms, there is great attention to detail and real harmony in the decor and furnishings. We stayed in Bondi, one of the huts away from the road(s) so it was exceptionally quiet and relaxing. One of the roads adjacent to the property is a main one and several of the huts sit near it so they may not be quite as peaceful as the others, however Middleton is a quiet sea-side town, so everything in context they might not be too bad (those huts might be slightly cheaper too).
All the huts have a private patio of some sort with an outdoor table setting and usually a lounger or something similar. There are many grassy areas around the property that can also be used by guests, a tennis court and a fab building called the Village Hall that has a big rustic dining table and all kinds of stuff guests can make use off - daily newspapers, tennis gear, barbeque equipment and so on. A great place to congregate if you stay here with friends or family.
Breakfast is provided in your hut - bread for toasting, butter, a selection of jams/honey, coffee and teas, fruit juice, milk, and 3 types of cereal. Plus a really nice bottle of bubbly and chilled water. The kitchenette has everything you need.
Air conditioning was a god-send as we visited during 40+ degree (100+ F) heat in Adelaide! The beach is walkable distance although we drove (couple of minutes!).
Many nice things to say about this property, the owners have done a fab job with it and the quaintness of the huts will bring a smile to your face when you first drive in :)
Restaurant on-site is very good with great wine selection, just be warned if you're not a big eater the main meals are very generously sized.
