My husband and I visited Cooperstown on October 28, 2011, the last night of the World Series. Where else to watch the last game ? I picked this hotel as it was the closest of the "chain" hotels to town, but in reality they all are about the same distance away.
The town was very empty due to the forecast of snow the next day, but the hotel was gearing up for a wedding party. The front staff welcomed us with a smile and since we are Priority Club members, a welcome bag filled with two waters, pretzels, and candy. It was a drive to town, but with most of the town shut down for winter, parking right outside of the restaurant suggested by the staff was no problem. When we returned, the staff had a huge plate of cookies waiting...just the right end to our meal.
The room was your average Holiday Inn Express size. The only problem was that instead of a thermostat they had the older units with dials to adjust the heat. Since the room was cold when we entered we cranked up the heat, only to have to use the air conditioning part of the unit later to cool the room back down. Overnight it was really cold, so we did have to keep getting up to adjust the heat during the night. I don't think we ever really got it right.
The hotel was cheery and clean except for the edges of the carpeting near the walls of the hallways. The breakfast area was large enough for all the guests to fit comfortably. The breakfast was the typical fare, with one of the new pancake makers that looks like a flatbed copy machine. Of course it jammed, but one of the staff was right on hand to get our pancakes cooked to perfection.
Overall, the hotel is a good value for the money.
Room Tip: We picked a room facing the back instead of the parking lot, but it is dark back there, so don't...
