“Beautiful base for an all-women long week-end adventure”

I stayed here with my 2 daughters and 2 sisters for 4 nights, celebrating a birthday and looking for adventure. We reserved Villa Laguna which had lovely rooms, comfy beds, plenty of hot water and outstanding ambiance. Everything was wonderful from the welcoming drinks, to the restaurant's fabulous food & service, through booking of our tours. The grounds were lovely and we had fun walking the many paths. The staff was very accommodating, even warming our pastries and supplying utensils to cut the fruit we purchased at a road-side stand. If you are afraid of insects, look around and check your room. This is a plantation with lush gardens which attract birds and other things.

Room Tip: La Guaria and El Roble join to form Villa Laguna which contains a small kitchen, two bedrooms with k...

Dear GoCath; I am so happy that all of you had such a great time. We loved having all of you here and it was very obvious that you were really enjoying yourselves. Being in one of the villas allows you the great vies of the Central Valley and coffee fields below and is a great choice for families or larger groups. Couples also can enjoy the separate rooms if the whole villa is not rented.. Either way, a great location for being in nature and also great terraces for just hanging out and watching the birds fly by. We do have a lot of biodiversity and ecology at Finca Rosa Blanca, but the balance is so beautifully maintained that there are really very few problems with insects.
Can't wait to see you again next time!

“Costa Rician Romantic Hideaway”

We stayed at this resort at the end of our vacation touring Costa Rica. We were only staying two nights and the stay was only meant to round us back towards the airport to finish up our trip. It ended up being way more then we expected. Not only was our room extremely memoriable but the staff were incredible. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the service and ambiance was outstanding. A must do at either the beginning or end of your Costa Rician holiday. Only downside is you are close to town and there are really no animals to speak of nearby.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Rosa Blanca Suite. If you can get it, it is outstanding and will be more then wort...

Dear OffTheBeatenPath_1;
Thanks for the marvelous review. I am so glad you were content with Finca Rosa Blanca and you got to experience the Rosa Blanca Master Suite, which originally was the room we built for my mother who said she "always wanted to sleep in the clouds". To wake up at dawn and from the king sized bed watch the sun rising behind the Irazú volcano is really incomparable and I am sure you, like all of us, were amazed. As per the animals, we actually have quite a bit, although many of them are nocturnal; "Tigrillos" (a feline about the size of a smallish dog), coyotes, sloths, and over 120 species of birds that are quite abundant at dawn very early and many during the morning hours. We are close to the little pueblo of Santa Barbara but we are as you know surrounded by many coffee farms including our own and these areas are teeming with life. We recommend that instead of just starting or ending your trip here, which does make sense as we are only 20 minutes from the airport, that you stay at least 3 days so you can really take advantage of all we have to offer very close by: cloud forests, beautiful and culturally interesting central markets, zip lines, National Parks and incredible hiking.
Thanks again for your nice comments.

“Not All That!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I stayed here based on the stellar reviews which taught me a lesson, don't believe everything you read! My first impression was the reception who seemed to care less and had no warm words of welcome. Second, we reserved the el Ranchito. Upon entering the room you immediately saw the bed and surounding the perimeter were built in orange benches and a small bar. All it needed was a disco ball! The seperate WC was adequate but the shower had what seemed to be a 5 second hot water timer. You had to shut the water completely and ramp up the water heater which again only lasted 5 seconds. Not the most relaxing experience. No TV, No Room Service and intermittant WI-FI but big into bugs, spiders and critters! Be sure to shake out your towel before drying yourself off! The restaurant was very good though and Jorge, our server for 3 nights, was great! Sorry but I'm gonna pass the next time on this hotel!

Dear Ewinebabe; I am so sorry your stay at Finca Rosa Blanca wasn't perfect. We make every effort to create an unforgettable experience for our guests so I am very disappointed we could not meet your expectations.We are a functioning coffee plantation and artistic inn, not a standard hotel, and we are in a robust natural environment, surrounded with lush vegetation and foliage, so from time to time totally harmless insects are seen around and rarely, as in your case in the rooms. We are disappointed that the Ranchito Room had this affect on you, as it is a extremely large room, lovingly built by the best Costa Rican craftsmen with beautiful adornments, hand made mosaic floors, natural cane ceilings unique hand made king size bed in which all the bedding is 100% bamboo fiber which is one of the most luxurious and softest fabrics known. I am a bit confused, as you did not mention the beautiful hand-painted murals throughout the room or the outside bathing and sitting area with its giant 2 person Jacuzzi bathtub and separate shower in a protected and private garden- which is why this room is usually one of our most praised areas of the hotel. We have looked into the hot water issue, which is a completely new system installed 4 months ago, and it is in 100% working order with 60 gallons of constant hot water. I am so sorry that you did not mention this problem to us on the first day of your stay so we could have found the problem and fixed it for you immediately. Again, please accept our sincerest apologies for this issue and for not fulfilling your expectations.

This is a lovely place. The rooms are lovely (Spanish-themed and calm and relaxing), the grounds are great and the service really good. It's just 30 mins to the airport, so we stayed here twice - once on our way from monteverde to drakes bay - and then on our final night before heading home. Wonderful.

Dear Natalie222Uk;
Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay with us. We are indeed quite close to the airport even though we cannot see it or hear it, and this is a great way to end a trip without a long journey to the airport. We recommend that our guests stay 3 days if possible, as with our coffee tours, our proximity to the cloud forests and Braulio Carillo National Park, the exciting cultural highlands tour and so many other activities- not to mention just relaxing by our chemical free pool surrounded by lush vegetation- really requires more than just one night and day to enjoy.
Thanks again for your very appreciated comments.

“Beautiful location!”

We recently stayed here for our honeymoon. We stayed at the Rosa Blanca Suite and it is one of the most amazing rooms we're ever stayed in! We wished we could have stayed longer! The view from the bedroom was amazing. I couldn't wait to wake up and just stare out the windows! The pool area is also breathtaking. We also got lucky because the hotel was almost empty so it felt like our own private pool and restaurant! Very romantic!

The staff was very friendly and always offered to help. The food was amazing and friendly staff, we loved Marvin.

We also booked the coffee tour, a must if you're staying here! Manolo was our guide and he was great and gave us great information!

We hope to come back! Will def. come back again. It's perfect if you're arriving/leaving from San Jose. It's about a 20 min. ride to the airport.

Dear Itzmeg00:
Thanks for the kind words and exuberant recommendation- we really appreciate that effort. I am also so excited to read reviews from people who really appreciate Finca Rosa Blanca and all of our efforts to create the best possible experience and memories possible in a personalized environment.. By the way, yesterday, on the terrace above the waterfall of the pool, we installed a new huge Jacuzzi Hot Tub to replace the smaller one and we will be soon installing the smaller one on the upstairs terrace of the Rosa Blanca Master Suite. So next time you come you will get to plunge into that wonderful hot tub on your deck, or go to the pool and really stretch out. We are so glad that yo recognized and complimented our staff for their friendliness and warmth, as for the last 22 years, we have prided ourselves on the family like atmosphere and the wonderful and warm people who work here- all of whom are from the local area and take great pride in their workplace and their town. Thanks again and see you next year?
