Accommodation very clean and comfortable. Would definitely go back - had a great time.

I travelled down to Kirkcudbright for a wedding at the nearby Knockbrex Castle, and when searching for accommodation within the area, the Borgue Hotel always came to the top of the list, with great reviews from fellow TripAdvisor members. Now that I have experienced a stay here, I can see why this is the case, and everyone falls in love with this place.

I received such a warm and pleasant welcome from the owners, Shirley and Vince(and their dog, Viking), who were so accommodating throughout my stay - nothing was too much trouble for them, and they could always recommend things to see and do in the surrounding area that suited your tastes

The room was fantastic - comfortable and spacious, with an en suite bathroom that was spotless. The following morning, I had the full Scottish breakfast which was very well cooked and presented - and good portions too. Car parking at the rear of the hotel is free for guests - easy to access, and plenty of room

The best thing about the Borgue for me though was the value for money if you are attending a wedding/function at Knockbrex Castle - Shirley and Vince will arrange to drive you to and from the venue at no extra charge to your bill, which just shows again how willing the owners are to go that extra mile (no pun intended) to make your stay memorable

Overall, it was a wonderful experience at the Borgue - so tranquil, so peacefful, so pleasant, and just a gem of a hotel. You will not be disappointed!!!

We have stayed at this Hotel at least twice a year for the last three years - "we" being myself, my husband, our young son, my mother and her dog. It is just the most relaxing and friendly place. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners Vince and Shirley - even my mother's fussy eating is catered for with no problems!! The family room is very spacious. All rooms and bathrooms are absolutely spotless with everything thought of. We have the wonderful breakfast and then take our hotel-prepared packed lunch out with us for the day before returning for a beautifully cooked and very reasonably priced evening meal in the private guest's dining room. What more could you ask for? Not much!! I could not recommend this hotel more.

Recently returned from a break in Borgue with our 17 year old son and two dogs,the whole experience from initial booking to the end of our last minute break was 5 star the initial welcome and local advise from Shirley and Vnce was invaluable as we had not visited the area before,The Breakfast is amazing and very special and better than any 4 star hotel we have stayed in The Evening meals are also very good and value for money,also having the bar on site is rather handy.
Our dogs were also made to feel wellcome and advise was given on the local dog walks
Would recomend this small hotel to anyone even our son enjoyed the stay
