“Perfect for families with young children”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

people found this review helpful

Had a comfortable family vacation with 3 generations of our family and could sum-up our experiences as follow:

Pros : Highly recommend this "retreat' for those with young children. Kids get extra attention from staff and my little one was vey happy to be surrounded by other little people.
On the activity front , there seems to be a variety of things to do on/off site. The most popular (freebies for all guests) tends to be kayaking and day visits to Kradan island. F&B was tasty but expensive as would be expected on a holiday resort.

Cons : Not recommended for couples/individuals in search of a quiet get-away.
Remote location ; nothing in walking distance, closest eatery is 5 mins drive and hotel shuttle costs 50 baht pp. one way.
Most activities are organized exclusively for TUI's group and could not be joined by non-members.

Room Tip: For less noise, pick a room far from the pool area.

“Beautiful but not for us!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We stayed in January 2012 at this beautiful location and excellent hotel. We could not fault anything about the quality management or service befitting a well respected group and therefore at minimum would have to rate the hotel as very good.

Unfortunately for us, a retired couple, the policy of the hotel seems to have been to contract a large number of their rooms to a particular Scandinavian travel group. They in their turn would appear to have marketed the hotel as family friendly and therefore it was like staying in a cross between a childrens party and a kindergarten. We have nothing against kids in reasonable numbers but this was totally unbalanced particularly for a 5star spa hotel.

So have a great time if you have kids otherwise beware paradise lost!

Room Tip: Ocean view deluxe beautiful

Dear Valued Guest
Thank very much for taking the time to write to us and provide us with your feedback. I am very pleased to read your feedback on our beautiful location as well as resort in general that I will share with my team here in Si Kao. As you very rightly mention, we do over the months November to April have a high number of families enjoying their stays here with us. During the rest of the year however, we are significantly more quiet yet still have all facilities available for our guests to enjoy. Your opinion is very important to us and we sincerely look forward hopefully welcome you back again possibly over a different period.
Kind regards
Morten Junior

“children village!!!!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

been in sikao last year:magic, wonderful, peace, elegance.
now they have a contract with tui and became a children village:children screaming at the pool (which wonderful bubble were closed) from 10am to 16 pm without a lifeguard.children screaming all the time.
The elegant room was filled with two caste bed for children.
5 stars maybe, but only for families with babies.
For sure no more for a quiet honeymoon.
food and cleanliness ok,but the prices are too high for a family with children village and a problem is millions of mosquitos.

“Relaxing holidays in extreamly beautiful surroundings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Very beautiful hotel in extreamly beautiful surroundings in the middle of nowhere. We loved the hotel area and also the hotel room, which were also big enough with tasty decor. Good food and drinks, but quite expensive, because there are no other options in neigbourhood. Roomservice works well. Not enough sunbeds. Lot's of small children in hotelarea. Good opportunities for jogging and canoeing. Small gym. Good spa.

“Good location, but a pretty unclean property and the service is lacking...”

Stayed over New Year in an ocean view room. The service was pretty sub standard aside from the team in Aqua restaurant. Poolside was usually a mess with plates and empty glasses left around, similarly in the beach house.

Room had a broken toilet seat, phone rang on and off where we ended up taking the phone off the hook - complained but nothing was done.

Water sports equipment was good and great for it to be free.

Food was also generally nice, albeit a little inconsistent - having to send some food back to the kitchen. New Year dinner was a bit chaotic, they didn't seem too sure where to seat people and drinks were a bit of a pain - and chasing us to sign a drinks bill back at our room 1 hour later was a bit much.... It could have waited til morning (1 beer, soft drink and water). We also had to book for it, even though it was a mandatory part of staying... Just tight in my opinion!

English also seemed a bit of a problem, often getting the wrong thing instead of the staff seeking clarification. Happened at least 3 times in 4 days with food and drinks.
Reserving of tables for buffets was a little strange...and being asked to leave unmarked empty tables because they were 'reserved' is just not on.

If you want a seat at the pool get there early, didn't seem to be enough seats even though the hotel didn't appear full. Could probably do with an additional deeper pool for kids. And the beach is a bit average, shells make it difficult to swim at low tide, so jumping a kayak across to the other side was good to do.

I won't go back, and I probably wouldn't recommend the place either... Sorry guys, easy things to sort out, but sort out you must!

Dear Valued Guest

I would like to thank you for taking the time to write and express the pros and cons that you encountered during your stay at the resort. I do apologies for the shortfalls in our service as you are absolutely right that timings, cleaning as well as correctness of order taking has to be swift and correct. Yes we do over the months November until April have a high number of families enjoying their stays here with us, many of whom are from the Scandinavia countries. Your positive comment has also been passed on to our Acqua Team, thank you! Please rest assured we are actively looking into all the points you raised with regards to English knowledge of our associates, having an additional pool and well as additional seats around the resort. Your opinion is very important to us and we look forward to hopefully welcome you back one day.
Kind regards
Morten Junior
