“An escape from mass tourism, simple charm, fantastic food”

My wife and I found Prinsotel after we desperately tried to escape the mass tourism establishments that dominate much of the island's southern part. Prinsotel was exactly what we were looking for. Located in a quiet neighborhood of villas, the hotel has a simple charm that won us over. We stayed at one of the pool-side two-storey buildings in a perfectly suitable double room. The pool area is great, only to be outdone by the outdoor lounge with plush seating, perfect for snacks and a sunset cocktail. The buffet food is simply the best we've had, with an astonishing variety. It's probably best to have a car to visit some of the nice beaches close by. Highly recommended for those looking for quality, quiet, andfor those whose idea of vacation isn't staying in a 1,000+ room megahotel.

“A lovely quiet sun holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

I stayed at this hotel at the end of July with two other girlfriends. We stayed in a triple room which was really a twin room with a smaller than single bed put in by the balcony door but this was absolutely fine as we made sure that the smallest person in the party stayed in this bed and she found the bed rather comfortable.

The hotel was lovely overall with the cleaning staff being absolute superstars making our beds to perfection and changing our towels daily always giving us a few extra.

There is a beach about 2 minutes from the hotel which is absolutely beautiful although it was absolutely packed with tourists and locals when we were there so it was best to go really early in the morning or later on in the evening as the sun is setting as this is when it is really gorgeous. There is another beach just over the rocks from that beach and that is a wider beach but still smaller than the other beach it is also has a lovely beach bar although it was quite pricey they did lovely tapas and sandwiches.

If you are looking for a holiday with the hustle and bustle of Alcudia this is not for you but if you are looking for a nice quiet resort this is a great holiday for couples and families or single sex parties and with the taxi to Alcudia costing 6 Euros then it is easier to go for a night out in Alcudia. There were lots of young couples at the hotel. There are a few nightclubs in Puerto Alcudia but just to warn you the clubs are dead till about 1am that is when all the locals come out there is place called the magic centre which has a few clubs which are very small including Club Banana and Menta disco which is just down the road.

Some people could see this as a problem but it was fine for us, we were probably the only English people at the hotel apart from one other party but this meant it was lovely and quiet this meant that the Majority of people were Spanish or German.

The food was lovely with a huge selection of fruit and cereals for breakfast as well as a cooked breakfast option and a selection of juices, tea and coffee. The dinner had a good selection every night mostly catered for the Germans but was lovely with a selection of salads, different hot food and desserts, for vegetarians though there wasn't much of a selection which my friend found but I did see that they did a gluten free menu. They also had a Mallorcan themed night one evening. Drinks were slightly pricey at the hotel and with no fridge it was hard to bring any drinks up from the supermarket to keep in the room, so we ended up going to the supermarket daily to get water. The supermarket is only 5 minutes away down by the Marina which is lovely to walk around and admire the boats there is also a lovely seafood restaurant called cocodrillos which has free wifi connection which was useful as the hotel connection wasn't very strong. The highlight of the holiday was the 'Chill out' which is a lovely Morrocan style cocktail bar near the Marina we ended up spending most of our evenings here with the gorgeous jugs of cocktails. There is also a Tapas bar near the Marina which was nice but pricey.

The good thing about there not being many English people is that the sun beds were never all full up so the pool was nice and quiet everyday and for the summer holidays this was brilliant this is because most of the Germans go on day trips.

Pollenca and Puerto Pollenca are not far in a taxi or car around ten minutes and make a lovely day trip to the steps or market in Historic Pollenca or the market in Puerto Pollenca or beach, Marina or shops.

This was a lovely relaxing holiday for me and my friends and we would go back to the hotel but especially Mal Pas as it is a beautiful place.

“Quiet hotel good value out of season”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2011

Good value for money but would not go there in high summer. Excellent buffet. Staff courteous. Catering to the German hiking and cycling fraternity aged 40+. Rooms strictly no frills (apart from a TV), slightly jaded and faded decor but adequate for a 3 star hotel. Bath and wardrobe small. Sound insulation not great. We went out of season so noise was not an issue but could be irksome in high season with the wrong neighbours! Very clean. Pool nice for children, with life-guard. Pleasant sun-terrace and bar area. Evening entertainment once a week only - which for us was a plus point!

Off the beaten track. Bus service (3x daily) to Alcudia available in theory but not in practice! It is possible to walk to Alcudia town (30 mins) by a pleasant country road. Small beach 5 minutes away probably overcrowded in summer but okay in May. We would go back but take B&B option with other meals in the two very good bar-restaurants in immediate vicinity.

“Don't go there!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2009

Our party consisted of my sister, my partner and myself. We booked a room for 3 pax (people) thinking the apartment was for 3 people, which is what we usually get. When we got to the room, the cleaners were still there, and we saw only two single beds in one room. We asked where the other bed was, and it was on it's side out in the hallway. It was to be put alongside the other two single beds, which would have made the room wall-to-wall beds, with only one small wardrobe to share amongst three adults. We went straight back to the reception to complain, and were told that they have NO APARTMENTS in the whole complex. However, we could have two separate (adjoining) rooms, for, you've guessed it, an extra 30 euros per night. So having paid an extra 210 euros, we went to our rooms. We found that there were NO HAIR DRYERS, and also NO TEA/COFFEE MAKING FACILITIES in the rooms. We could not even rent a hair dryer! We managed to get the restaurant to lend us a thermal flask to take hot water into the room to make tea. However, this did not help when we wanted to make tea/coffee early in the morning without having to get dressed to go to the restaurant! We then found that there was NO ENTERTAINMENT day or night...oh sorry, on Sunday they had Flamenco dancing, but by then we had found a nice bar down the road. Talking of bars, the one in this hotel has got the worst staff you could wish to meet. We called them 'Slouch an Grouch'! The older man, with the grey hair, slouched around as if he was just getting out of bed, and the younger, taller man needed a lesson in how to make cocktails. They were more concerned with making sure the other (German) customers were being attended to. We had ordered coffee and whiskeys, which was supposed to be brought to our table, but was just left on the bar, My partner had to go to collect the tray because the coffee was getting cold. Talking of Germans, we were the ONLY BRITS in the whole complex, and we were also told that we were the only the second Brits since early May. We questioned why there was no information books in English, even the menu outside the restaurant was written in German. We were told that this hotel caters mainly for Germans! We wanted to speak to the manageress of the hotel, only be told that she was 'busy'. We asked to make an appointment, and then were told that she could not speak English! That was the icing on the cake!! The restaurant food was excellent, plenty of variety and lots of hot food on display. The cleaners were everywhere and the hotel was clean. Unfortunately for us, the first 3 days of our week was torrential rain and thunder, and with no entertainment, we spent time just playing cards..deep joy! We could have played tennis, snooker or table tennis, but, yes, you've guessed it again, more euros!! I hope never to be so desperate to have to ever book this hotel again.

“loved the location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2008

Stayed here in jul 2006 and went again in aug 2007. The hotel is in the residential area of mal pas, about 2km from alcudia town. There is a bus on weekdays that goes by the hotel to the centre (5 services per day).

Superb area. Very quite and secluded with villas owned by wealthy locals. There is a sandy cove beach 150m to the rear of the hotel with excellent waves.

The rooms are arranged as little cluster flats around the hotel site and are lovely. Rooms cleaned everyday with decent air con. Food is good (but greasy) especially when paella is on the menu.

The hotel is primarily booked by germans with very few english customers, making us feel a bit out of place. The bar is well-priced but entertainment just one night per week.

You can hire bikes from the hotel and use their tennis courts. Pool looked nice but never used it - went to the beach instead. Staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. A supermarket, marina and a few small restaurants are located 500m down the road and turn right. Taxis to the town cost just 4euro.
Definately thinking of coming back!!

  • Liked — location, tranquility, food, service
  • Disliked — too many germans, lack of entertainment
