We arrived in Alcudia from a big family celebration in Palma and got what we really needed, a short stay in a calm , quiet hotel. The room was perfect, at the side of the building. A swallow sang his/her heart every morning on the wire just outside! The hotel is within the walls of old Alcudia, just a short walk away from the main street of the old town. Maria, the manageress, could not have been more friendly or helpful. She recommended places to eat and gave us directions to the tourist office, buses etc.
The breakfast is great, fresh local produce, fruit, yogurt, ham, cheese, lovely bread baked by the owner's mother every morning, eggs cooked as you prefer, freshly squeezed orange juice. It's hard to praise it enough.
Our bed was very comfortable, the area was very quiet yet so close to everything. We had a lovely stay and Maria was so helpful on the last day. We had a late flight and did not need to leave Alcudia until about 5 or 5.30 p.m. We asked if we could leave our bags in the hotel but Maria offered to let us keep the room until we needed to go as it was not required until the following day. So we were able to go shopping, have lunch in a gorgeous little garden in a hotel called Ca'n Simo ( the restaurant is called Arca de Peter, I think)and then go back to our room in Cas Ferrer and have a rest, then a shower and off back to the airport. We thought it was wonderful.
Having never been to Majorca before and being prompted to go there only because of the family celebration we are really glad that we did in fact visit. We are delighted that we found this little hotel and the best part for me is that it is a former forge, hence the name "Cas Ferrer", the blacksmith's house. My great grandfather was a blacksmith!
