Just back from our visit and found the hotel quirky and charming. We had a top floor room and it took a little time to get used to the sloping floor, but again this added to the charm.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble - they even provided printed directions to the local pub!
Food in the restaurant was good, however they initially got my order wrong and when they brought my replacement, my partners meal was nowhere to be seen!
The waitress (restaurant manager?) immediately saw to this and applied a discount to the bill without us having to complain at all.
Shame the snow prevented us from making full use of the facilities on our second day as we had a long journey back, as the pool was lovely.
Overall a good value break away and we will definitely use Mercure hotels again in the future.

I have stayed at this Hotel before, so when Mercure had a special offer and I saw Bowden Hall, I immediately booked.As a retired coach driver, I have used Mercure Hotels many times and always found them to be "fit for use". This Hotel is in a different class altogether! The location,staff,accomodation and food are all excellent.

Have, literally, just returned from a Christmas trip to the Bowden Hall. Everything from the room to the food and entertainment was superb. The Manager and staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, even when serving hot chocolate at 1am in the morning on our return from midnight mass. The Dining room was beautifully dressed for Christmas dinner.

The room was spacious and clean as was the rest of the hotel. Didn't have time to use the leisure suite, although this looked very well equiped.

Cannot recommend highly enough.

Our first room had ladybirds all over the curtains and insides of the window. It was December so most seemed to be hibernating, but some kept flying around which became quite irritating, so we requested a change of room. The staff could't have been more helpful, and changed our room immediately. The bar and restaurant staff we met for the rest of our short stay were all very helpful and very friendly.
The hotel itself has character, and our (replacement) room was comfortable and warm. The hotel's fitness centre is tiny with a few cardio machines, but the pool was ok and the sauna was good.
It was the staff that made our stay good!
