“Passion for food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Outstanding food. Menu looks mundane, but the food is absolutely fabulous.
It is obvious that the chef actually loves cooking, as opposed to someone following a recepie. By far the best meal I have had in many months, and that includes some London Michelin starred restaurants.
The whitebait is best ever and so generous a bucket. My lamb was perfectly cooked, pink and melting with oodles of flavour. The mash was a bed of smoothly sublime garlich mash with crisp kale and a scattering of green beans.
No surprise that the Churchill Arms was voted best gastropub in Cotswolds in 2011. For me it's is so far the best restaurant of 2011.
Congratulations to the whole team!

“Outstanding food, charming atmosphere!”

I read somewhere that the Churchill Arms was one of the top gastropubs in the Cotswolds so we stopped in for a light lunch on a recent driving trip around Gloucestershire. It did not disappoint! The atmosphere had a perfect blend of English antique furniture, slate floors and a giant roaring fire.

The food was outstanding. I had an absolutely delicious arugula salad with fried mozzarella balls and grilled halloumi cheese. My husband had cream of cauliflower soup studded with chunks of bacon, and the homemade “Churchill Fries” as a side. He thought both dishes were outstanding.

we didnt book and came across the churchill by chance ,they kindly fitted us in ,on the smallest table they had ,which got knocked each time someone walked passed.we were next to the fire ,which was not lit ,on the coldest day of the year .we waited nearly an hour for our food ,which when it came was very nice but very small portions ,not worth the money or wait.

Room Tip: we only ate ,but ask if the heating is on

“Excellent in all departments”

This is a fabulous country pub serving top quality food and excellent wine complimented by lovely staff who could not do enough to help. My wife and I stayed here on a cold Monday night but the welcome more than made up for the weather. The room was very clean and warm with a good bathroom and great views over the small church and fields beyond. With the amazing breakfast (freshly cooked) it is unbelieveably good value. I have stayed here many times over the years and I am delighted to say that the food is now better than ever, my wife is restricted by dietry difficulties but this proved no problem at all even though we hadn't mentioned it before arriving! I'm already looking forward to going back.

“Very Tasty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Wednesday evening in a recession and this pub is going well. Most of the tables were either occupied or reserved but we were soon sorted out quickly, not having booked. There is a bit of the intimidation walking into what appears a locals dominated bar. They do very much look you up and down.

Good range of beers (£3.30 a pint is a bit steep for a local beer) and glasses of wine in choice of three sizes.

Didn't have starters so can't comment.
Main courses were well cooked and very tasty (£10-£17). Not over large so we possibly should have had a starter or a pudding.

Will definitely return.
