I stayed at the Eliot Arms recently whilst in the area on business. The Hotel is in the Cotswold Waterpark, an outstandingly beautiful area, but still within easy reach of the motorway system. I found the venue on Laterooms.com, and was attracted by the very reasonable room prices in comparison to other places in the area. The Eliot was certainly not a disappointment, and was a very pleasant experience indeed.
My colleague and I both had very spacious rooms, both very well appointed, and I even had the luxury of a four-poster bed. The rooms were spotlessly clean, and were attended to every morning. Breakfast was included in the price, and was ample in proportion, and well presented.
The Eliot Arms Hotel is a Marstons Pub, and although this point may put-off some people, I can say that the Hotel is very well run by the Manager "Harry", who is really on top of his game. We were made to feel very welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. The pub is a typical country pub, not a rowdy place but quite genteel, and is well used by the locals all of whom made us feel welcome.
We had our evening meals in the in-house restaurant which catered from a very good Marstons Pub Menu, offering discounted meals, two-for-one's, and "Steak Night". The food was excellent value, well cooked and presented, and hearty portions.
Our stay at the Eliot really was an enjoyable one, and I would recommend it to all travellers who want good clean accomodation, good value meals, pleasant ambiance, and a comfortable place for a drink. The price we paid for all of this? It was a steal at £30 per room per night, totally unbelievable for an hotel in this area. Give the Eliot a try, it really is real value for money.
