We picked this hotel mainly because of our 2 year old. And for the most part it worked perfectly.
The hotel is situated right on the long, beautiful beach, with a short walk to the water. The water was clear and warm and had a sand bottom as far as we could see. We had no problems getting sun chairs, but we were also here in mid-Septmeber which could have something to do with it! There were only 3 rows of them, which on the other hand made it more quiet. Our 2 year old could play in the lovely, fine sand!
The hotel was a bit dated, but absolutely fine. We had one bedroom with a crib, which made it a little cramped, but ok. The bathroom was an ok size with a shower and the kitchen small and separate. Our balcony was big and spacious with a great view of the pool, but also on the appartement below because the hotel was sloped back with terrasses! Our child loved the view through "glas" window railing!
Note that the TV has 2 different settings, one with Spanish channels and one with British! And the Spanish was set up for us, and probably other Scandinavians. There is no info about this, and it was told us by accident (?) because we talked to very friendly staff during international soccer games! Changing to British channels with childrens cartoons helped us tremendously!
The hotel was mainly Scandinavian. Elevator was too small to fit us and our child's stroller together. The playground had equipment fitted for older kids (older than 2). The pool area had wood immitation rather than tiles, which made it much more safe and sless slippery to walk on! The hotel minimarket had almost everything we needed, including fresh bread rolls. And the price wasn't much worse than the ones on the street. We did not try the restaurant, but the pool bar food was awful! Calamari was tiny pieces of tough something covered in thick, greasy lard. There were plenty of restaurants up and down the road just outside, though the food selection was touristy and far from traditional Mallorcan! The lack of "real" food made us select TexMex restaurant Dakota Grill & Bar several days instead, which had great and interesting food, as well as rides and inflatble bounce house to entertain our child. We found this a couple of minutes down the street from the hotel - to the left, away from Alcudia. This is a chain with more restaurants in the area, also in Alcudia town.
Playa de Muro had an amazing beach and water. But the restaurants were very expensive! We paid up to 100 Euro for the 3 of us!! The main road through town was quite busy, not pretty and not very child friendly. The sidewalks were narrow. We felt that the area lacked an ocean boardwalk or something. Alcudia town, although more busy, was much prettier. And Alcudia was not close, so we only took a taxi there once!
(And be aware - if you ask the taxi to take you to the center like us....well, then you got quite a hike to get downtown to the touristy waterfront! They drop you off in a totally local area where nobody understood "water", "ocean" or "beach"!! It took us awhile to find the directions and then half an hour or more by foot! So don't be hungry!)
But all in all - the beach was calm and quiet, the water amazing, lots of reastaurants and stores and many childrens rides and playgrounds scattered around along the road. It was all about the beach, not the town, this time.
