We stayed a week at La Giraudiere in July. We rented a car to get around. It is a wonderful manor house in a patch of woods, pool, walking trails, close to too many castles to name. We opted for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was fresh, fruit, bread, jam from a local convent and of course wonderful coffee. Dinner was always wonderful, mostly served outdoors with aperatifs first, main course, salad, cheese, and dessert. No choice for the main course but always a culinary treat.
We spent a day at Pui du Fou. A historical fair with people dressed in costumes from middle ages through 19th century. Angers castle is beautiful and only 30 minutes away.
The hosts were wonderful; english speaking and full of suggestions. Excellent pricing as well.
I highly recommend this site. Well worth finding it and very much to see in the area.

A really good location if you are sightseeing or cycling around the Loire. The hotel has seen better days and is a bit odd architecturally. We booked a twin room and were put in a 'mini apartment' at the top of the building with a door frame from a time when people did not grow as tall as they do today, but that was not a problem. The room or rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable ... although we did not try all of them! Although the menu choice was limited (it changes on a daily basis), we had a very pleasant meal with good local wine at a reasonable cost. All the staff were charming and there was a nice atmosphere about the hotel.

I went for an early pre breakfast walk around the local vineyards as the sun was rising ... all very enjoyable.

The only bad point was that WIFI was temporarily out of action ... this wasn't a problem for us for one night but would have been if we had been staying longer.

We thought the place was excellent.. more especially for the location - it was extremely good value for the money. The room was lovely. The restaurant - yes was local 'home' cooking. Served well. And at a very reasonable cost! The wines too.. of which there was an extensive range. Can't wait to go back!

The location is excellent, the hotel is surrounded by Cabernet franc vineyards and it's only 5 km from the village of Chinon, which is lovely and well worth a stay. I got a spacious room with a balcony and it was very clean and quiet, the staff helpful and courteous - overall an excellent value.
The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the restaurant, I thought that the dinner was unremarkable - which, in that area of France, is unforgivable...
