“Really Bad Experience - Unreasonably Overpriced place, worst room service, Un-courteous, Arrogant staff”
Wanted some good place to stay for a nice summer vacation at Dhanaulti. Having traveled extensively, there are some things you can trust the hotel to do to make your stay comfortable. This hotel is one place that does not believe in making your customer's happy and their stay comfortable. You get the first taste of their 'hospitality' from the direction boards when you are approaching the hotel (I drove down in my own car from Chamba/Tehri side). These only mention the hotel name, but not the distance to the hotel. So, you get the feeling that you are on the right 'path' but can't say how much longer will it take to reach. This is unlike the markings for other hotels/resorts in the area that clearly mention "how much distance to go". Even if you overlook this, on reaching all our 'doubts' were put to rest. After squeezing the car in the cramped hotel parking (nobody from the hotel is there to help), you get to face the ATTITUDE (and a big one!) of the front desk. The so called 'manager' treats you like you should be indebted to him for his attention (probably because Dhanaulti is a tiny place with only a few good hotel options to choose from). Have never seen such arrogance from any other hotel. Everything like the basic courtesies (bellboy etc.) needs to be asked for. We checked in our rooms at about 2.30 p.m. The rooms were basic and clean but there are no fans or AC. In the washrooms there were no toiletries and towels. Had to call the housekeeping several times to get them. Now to the food - the in-house restaurant is again a big disappointment - the food is not a bit tasty and the service is very slow. Was wondering during the two days (sigh) of stay at this place, if anything was worth the price at this place! The last straw was the torn towels that were replaced in the washrooms the next day (again in the late afternoon). Briefly spoke with some other guests staying in the hotel and they also expressed their anguish at the kind of treatment they were receiving.
Overall, in one sentence- STAY AWAY from this place if you do not want . We discovered during sightseeing later, a much better option is the Eco Huts right next to this hotel. These huts offer a much better environment and are much better than the crappy Drive Inn (the hut costs less than half of what you would pay at Drive Inn).
