We spent 3 days at Cuffie River in October of this year and while the resort is modern (yet rustic) we found the food to be over-priced and with no WIFI or TV in the room, we wondered what we were paying $240 US a night for. We were the only guests yet the "award-winning" guide on staff would have nothing to do with us since we didn't pay an additional $120 US for a "3 hour guided walk around the property"
At least at Asa Wright an introductory walk is included in the price.
I think they should be more forthcoming about what the meals actually cost, how about a menu we can choose from, i am a birder (and was there for the birds) and don't care about food all that much, my palate doesn't need to be challenged.
The location deep in the valley means it's impossible to go out unless you have a car by the way, so you are pretty much stuck with what they feed you.
Also, having a few hummingbird feeders up is not enough, the best places we went to put fruit out for the birds as well, we were less than overwhelmed by the variety of birds.
