“A Regular Favourite”

We just keep going back to Monte Dourado every year - it's become our half term getaway every May - when the weather is Just right (75-80 f) and geneally not over busy so pleasant. The apartments at Monte Dourado , are very well built and maintained , cleaned spotlessly by a long serving team of ladies who care. Exremely well equipped kitchen , allowing me as a foodie to buy lots of local merchandise at the nearbye market or supermarket and to prepare some pretty sophisticated dishes , thus eating well and saving money! Great choice of swimming pools and within close walking distance ot the centre of town . Not over expensive and money saved can be used to hire a small hire car for the holiday - great for hotel transfers and getting round the many beaches and attractions. My Kids 6 and 8 have grown up going there and always look forward to going to our house in Portugal! Only one warning really , you are at the top of a hill , the descent into town is not bad , but the return trip can be a little challenging! But a cab will cost you 5 euro - don't be embarrased , book one - you are on Holiday!

Room Tip: Ground floor - Ocena view - a bit more but worth it!

“Lovely fully equipped apartments”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

Stayed here for a week in June with my family. When we first arrived we were so surprised at how big the apartment was and absolutely everything you need. Fully equipped kitchen. Lovely views from the balcony and excellent swimming pool. Having two bathrooms was a novelty too with beach and bath towels provided. Maids came to clean almost every day which was brilliant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, the weather was lovely the location was great, only 10 mins from the waterpark and 5 minute walk in to the centre of Carvoeiro and beach which is surrounded by various bars and restaurants. The apartments have ample parking space and lovely scenery. Reception Staff are very helpful too.

Very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Would definately return to these apartments.

“Great Apartments”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

We arrived slightly early and the apartment was still being cleaned. The apartment was very clean & tidy and had three good size bedrooms, one double & two twins. Two of the bedrooms had en-suite and there was also a seperate toilet and shower. The apartment came with beach towels which saved alot of packing for the six of us. It also has a fully fitted kitchen with cooker, oven & dishwasher and a full range of kitchen utensils. There is also a washing machine tucked away in a small utility cupboard in the hallway. The rooms are all very spacious and the lounge leads out onto a small patio area with garden furniture to eat on. The apartment we stayed in (APT 13 MIMOSA) was literally 10 metres from the pool area which never really got very busy. It has a small child's pool and a larger adult pool. There are 4 other pools across the complex that you can also use. Carvoeiro itself is quite small and self contained and has mostly shops & restaurants in the town. The restaurants we found to be quite expensive and have a fairly standard range of steak & fish available. Most restaurants put bread, butter & pate down as standard and our party of five adults and one child usually ate a main course with two alocoholic drinks. The cheapest was 90 Euros and the dearest 150 Euros. To be honest I was not overly impressed with either the friendliness of the restaurant staff or the quality of the food.

“Great holiday, we'll be back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2011

We stayed in the Monte Dourado complex for 10 days. This complex is great for its location, it is only a two minute walk into the town of Carvoeiro and a five minute walk to the beach. The town has lots of bars and restaurants and the Portuguese are very welcoming. There are lots of cafes beside the beach that you can go to during the midday sun. If you are into Italian food I'd recommend an Italian restaurant called California or if you are into Indian food there are two restaurants, one overlooking the beach and one in the town. All are within walking distance from the complex. During the night, there is a lot going on in the town, music is played on stage and there are a lot of families out, so the town is very family friendly.
The complex itself is very large. Our apartment was very spacious, it had two bedrooms, two bathrooms and spectacular view overlooking the town and beach. The pool was right outside our front door. The only problem that we found with the location of our apartment within the complex was that we had to climb a very steep hill from the entrance that went past reception and all the way to our apartment, it was okay for us but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone elderly. We found out that there were steps on the other side that brought us from the town to the back of the complex. Either way it was still hard climbing the hill late at night.
The caves are a great excuse to get away from the pool or the beach. There about a 10 minute walk from the complex. There is a a cafe at the caves where you can get something to eat and you can take some photos.
There is a large supermarket five minutes from the complex called 'Intermarche' but you would have to get a taxi, so if you want to stock up, get a taxi from the taxi rank just outside Smilers bar. The fare is reasonably cheap.
If you are planning to go on a trip away from the town and complex there is an office on the street which the complex entrance is on and you can book there. We went to Slide splash which was a great day out.
The reception has a computer and internet access which was handy. The transfer from Faro airport to the complex was €10 each way per person. Its about a 45 minute journey.

Overall it was a great holiday. I would definitely come back to this complex in the future during the summer months.

Room Tip: Avoid apartments at top of hill if elderly

“Fantastic views and spacious clean accomodation”

Hi ,My family of six with 4 children under 10 have just come back from staying for 1 week in a 3 bedroom apartment at the Monte Dourada apartments and our parents joined us on the trip in an equally beautiful 2 bedroom apartment. The apartments are very spacious, secure, clean and an abundance of kitchen equipment with dishwasher and washing machine. The maid service is excellent just not Sundays or Bank Holidays understandably.Reception staff are very helpful and informative and you can hire tennis rackets and balls for courts on site. The supermarket Mini Mercado on Rua do Cerro up hill 3 mins behind complex is the cheapest around for everything and fresh bakery open at 8am daily.I would like to recommend the Virmar Restaurant at the top of Rua Farol on the roadside en route to the Tivoli Hotel as great fish, value and an enclosed small playground outside the patio area.
