The street noise inside our room made it impossible to sleep. The hotel does offer ear plugs so they are fully aware of the problem but it is not possible to understand how noisy it gets till you try to sleep. The rooms were very basic but that is all we expected for the price we paid. Hot water was hot which was great. Air conditioner was cold which you think would be great except we could not change the temperature and so it was freezing after a while and there were no blankets so I spent the night shivering.

Room tip: If you stay here make sure you do not get a room on the street

This hotel, despite small and basic felt like a little bit of luxury at a real bargain price. Just set off the road it doesn't look much but the hotel itself was extremely pleasant, and more importantly clean. The bed was comfy, room cosy, good wifi, room service breakfast (at a tiny price) and the bathroom, although very small, was in good condition. The roads were very noisy, however this is obviously to be expected and so can't fault the hotel. Situated just off Ranong road, close to small supermarkets (7/11) and other amenities. Staff were super and friendly, even offering to carry my bag to my room as there was no lift. Would recommend if looking for a little taste of something slightly 'upmarket' on a budget.

We booked 1 night here to see what is was like. We opted for a deluxe room as it was not much more expensive than a standard.

The room was amazing - we immediately went & extended our booking for a further 2 nights.

It was extremely clean & bright, with dual aspect windows & a balcony. It also had air con, wifi, Tv, fridge, mini bar, kettle, wardrobe & desk; as well as a really powerful shower.

It is situated next to the wet market & we had been warned that it was noisy when the market started at about 4am. Although there was noise from traffic on the road below, we had no issues or interrupted sleep for the 3 nights we were there.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. We were a little unsure when booking so only booked the one night. Our room was really lovely so we stayed 3 nights, we had upgraded to the deluxe room.

The wet market next door is noisy in the mornings and the traffic noise is at its worse in the morning too, if your a light sleeper take advantage of the free ear plugs offered at reception. Our room was at the front on the corner, therefore exposed to both, but it didn't seem to be an issue.

It was nice to have the balcony to sit and have a beer on watching the mad manic Thai life below, it would have been helpful to have had some chairs on the balcony.

Overall, we had a positive experience at Chinotel. We booked on a mobile device as we were on our way into the city and reception was ready for us when we arrived. Reception was friendly and helpful and sorted us out with a scooter for about $10 USD/day. The room was clean. We paid a bit more for a bigger room, and I think it was worth it as it still wasn't massive. The bathroom was small, but clean and the shower had great pressure.

The problems: We never got any wifi, even after asking about it at the front desk and given an alternate password. The room, which was on the corner of the building facing the road, was quite noisy in the morning as sellers were whipping up food and stuff next to the market.

Also, beware of one of the steps leading up to the second floor, because it is a centimeter or two taller than the others and I was always tripping on it.

Room tip: Ask for a room that doesn't face the market, if possible.
