“Perfect Location for the best Karon has to offer. Stairs were a killer though”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed here for 4 nights on our trip round Phuket. We asked for a balcony overlooking the street so we could 'people watch'. The noise didn't bother us as we were on holiday so looked forward to enjoying what Karon had to offer. The room was fine. Nice comfy bed, fridge, TV, Aircon. It was clean and tidy and in good condition. We were on the top floor and there is no lift so it was up the winding 4 flights of stairs. In the humid heat it became a bit of a task (The torn knee ligament didn't help neither).

The hotel as a mexican restaurant downstairs that served standard fair for a 'mexican' . It was all well cooked an tasted very nice.

The hotels location was spot on right in the middle of Karon. Patak Road was pretty much pedestrianised so it was nice to have a stroll down at night and take in the sights. The bars at the end of the road were 'noisy' but they didn't bother us because we didn't have to be up for work so spent a few nights in there! The noise wasn't half as bad as what some people say it was!

We paid £20 per night to stay here and though that seems expensive for Thailand we thought it was more than right. I'd stay here again definitely. In fact we enjoyed Karon more than Patong and nearly came back after a couple of nights in Patong.

Room Tip: Fancy a laugh? let the tiny receptionist carry your bags upstairs. Nearly killed her. Ha ha. (I took...

“You get what you pay for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Paradise Inn consists of 4 floors of rooms above a restaurant (Las Margaritas) in a busy side street off Patak Road in Karon, close to the beach. The rooms are a little dated and the furnishings show some signs of wear. Several light bulbs had blown and had not been replaced before our arrival, leaving the room a little dark at night. However, the large de luxe room is spacious and the bed comfortable. The (free) wifi connection has a strong signal.

The location is convenient for both the numerous bars and restaurants in Karon and also for the beautiful long stretch of unspoilt beach.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear if you want to minimise the risk of noise from the street nightlife. Make...

Dear TomBailey888,

Thanks for visiting us and placing a review.

We immediately went to check on the lightbulbs as they are replaced regularly. Most folks don't say anything since there are at least 3 separate sets of lighting for every room (full light, romantic, reading). Sorry about that.

Also for the folks reading, although reception service counter is only open at Las Margaritas from 12:00 to 24:00, we have our main reception in our sister building next door at Karon Cafe Inn which is open from 06:00-24:00. Both buildings are on the same phone system and you can call for help (room service etc.) anytime. Just compare it to a property which has several wings, it's the same deal. Aside from that for security purposes our security guy watches all three of our properties on CCTV through the night. You might also notice, we are the only Guesthouse in the area which has computerized card locks which tell us who comes and goes when and keeps records for 25 days behind. And of course all rooms are equipped with both a digital laptop size safe, and a steel lockbox which you can use your own lock. We are proud to say in our 23 years of operation on this Soi, we are the only business who can say they've had zero theft record. We did have a couple attempts and all were foiled on account of our high security (sorry for the rest of the places in the area who can't say the same).

Happy Traveling,

Uncle Eric

“The nicest staff I have ever come accross”

We loved the place. Spotless, well looked after and bright with roof terrace access from our 4th floor room. 5 minutes from one of the best beaches. Great value for your $. The food is literally to die for. The staff at the Paradise Inn, Karon Cafe and Pacific Club are top notch. My thanks to the young lady at the Pacific Club Reception Desk, who went to endless trouble on the evening of November 15th to make sure that the online booking I had made for the Siam Elephant Adventure was correct and then booked us on the Krabi Tour with Tour by U, thank you so much. We made friends with Sammy Ullah . A bright friendly young man that takes customer service as far as it can go. The staff makes this resort .
We will be back.

“Great place, even better value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

Spent 7 nights here. Initially had some reservations driving up to front door but was warmly greeted by staff who promptly took my large, heavy bags up to my 4th floor room via the only way up....stairs! I had the large deluxe room, only a few dollars more but well worth it. Room was spotless and kept that way, including fresh linens every day.
If you're looking for 4-5 star resort accommodation......keep on looking. If you want great value and the experience of living within the Karon community, this is your place! The beach is only a 5 minute walk, markets, shops, restaurants, bars are literally outside your door! Sister hotel, Karon Cafe, just steps away for great inexpensive breakfast. I did go look at the Pacific Club but while a beautiful facility, it is somewhat isolated from the heart of the town. Try this place, you will be pleasantly surprised by both the facility and the surrounding community. Enjoy

Room Tip: Go for mid or deluxe room

“Clean and Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2011

My husband and I stayed here for 10 days. We booked the extra large room and really enjoyed our accommodation. Our room was at the back of the building, if you get a balcony your room faces the noisy area so opt for the big room but without a balcony. We had a fan and air conditioning, the room was very large with a dining and kitchen area. There is a refrigerator but no cooking options. There was also a television and plenty of storage. The shower was great, high pressure and hot. I read about cleanliness complaints previously, but the room was very clean. It was a little bit tired in appearance, but that is normal in a tropical climate. We had fresh bedding and towels brought every day and our rooms were very efficiently cleaned.
Breakfast isn't at the restaurant downstairs, that doesn't open until 1pm, but you can get your breakfast at their other restaurant just a few doors down.
Our only inconvenience was in regards to the lock to our room, which didn't work well and we had to get three new key cards and make use of the maid's key card under one circumstance. We were lucky that there was always staff available when we had a problem with the door.
Also, there is free wifi that worked very well during our stay.
Please note that this is like a serviced apartment, the entrance is shared with a restaurant and the rooms are above. We were never bothered by any noise or smell from the restaurant. The only services you can expect are cleaning and room service.
All in all we had a great stay and really enjoyed the friendly staff, spacious room, and excellent sleeping conditions.

Dear Rebelzilla,

We kindly Thank You for placing a nice fair review of our Boutique Guesthouse. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us.

Also, Thanks for mentioning the issue with the locks. Actually the current lock system is VingCard which is supposed to be one of the best in the world (especially when you compare the price with other Keycard lock systems). However, we started having problems with the locks when they were about 3 years old (keycards don't always work), and therefore we began testing new systems at our sister resort Pacific Club last year. We have installed a proximity keycard lock system there and have practically zero problems. And this week at the very same time as I'm writing this response We are replacing all the locks at all of our properties including Paradise Inn with the new proximity card system. We're quite confident the problem is eliminated.

BTW, we are the only guesthouse or hotel in this price range which offers a keycard lock system not only for guest convenience (if you lose a keycard it's lot's cheaper than replacing / rekeying a lock), but also the keycard system are the only way to deter (eliminate) theft. The normal modus operandi for gangs who prey on small less technologically safe guesthouses and hotels in Thailand is to visit a property several times changing rooms every night so they can make copies of the keys, especially the housekeepers key. Then they return one last time and around dinner time they clean out all the rooms they've managed to get keys for and disappear before morning . Unfortunately this is a big problem in Thailand (not sure about the rest of the world). However, since we have key card lock systems at all our properties combined with electronic safes and lockboxes in every room, we have never had a theft incident, Thank God.

Also, we're aware of the tired look of the upholstery and curtains and therefore will be replacing them this year which will give the rooms a new look. Constructive comments such as yours make sure to keep things like that on the top of the list. Of course we repaint every year :-)

We welcome all travelers who wish to be safe and comfortable on a reasonable budget to consider our budget properties Paradise Inn and Karon Cafe.

Happy Traveling,

Uncle Eric
